The Sing-Off: Winners Announced; Will It Be Back for Season Three?

The Sing-OffLast night, the winner of The Sing-Off was named on NBC. The group called Committed won the grand prize of $100,000 and a Sony Music recording contract. Now that season two’s over, will it be back for season three?

Last year, The Sing-Off debuted to mediocre numbers with a 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.89 million total viewers. That demo rating was about the same as what Heroes was getting at the time. The numbers went up and down from there for the limited run. It wasn’t very impressive but NBC decided to give it a second season anyway.

Quite often, that kind of faith doesn’t work out all that well for the networks and the next round gets the same or worse ratings. This time, things were different. Season two of The Sing-Off has averaged a 2.9 in the demo and 8.65 million viewers. This season, that makes it the second highest rated series on NBC, beating out both Outsourced and The Biggest Loser for that rank. Unfortunately for the network, it only lasted five episodes.

While NBC has not officially renewed the singing competition for season three yet, you can bet that the renewal is coming. Considering the network’s current state, it wouldn’t be surprising if they even tried to expand it to include more episodes per season or even do two cycles per season.

What do you think? Would you like to see the reality competition return for another round? Would you watch it more than once a year?

I loved The Sing Off and sincerely hope it comes back for a Season 3! I would watch it more than once a year; it’s a wonderful program and thoroughly enjoyable. I was surprised that Committed won but was not displeased: Back Street was great as well!
I will look forward with excitement to hear that it will be back!!

An amazing demostration of what people can do with just their voices. No gimmicks, just pure talent. It would be a shame not to bring it back and keep some of the other mindless garbage that’s on.

The Sing Off is, by far, THE most entertaining program on ANY network! We watched both seasons and recorded season two. We have re-watched it over and over again and still get a kick out of all the fabulous talent. Please, please continue this show!!

This year’s contestants were exceptional, and I think the production of the whole show was better than year one. I loved it, and you can’t have a more positive panel, even when delivering criticism. As a coach that’s a message I endorse, and think that the other shows could use a shot of… while the rudeness and snippiness of AI or AGT can be fun to watch, it gets tiresome. I would love a third season, but would prefer not to dilute the talent pool by running it multiple cycles.

To whom it may concern:

“Sing Off” is one of the best talent shows for musicality that I have ever seen. The
singing was just fantastic with very little errors. Though the group I voted for didn’t win,
it was a very enjoyable show with tons of raw talent. I, also, thought the judges were
knowledgeable and right-on-the-money! I hope there is a “Season 3″ for I would sure
watch it and I would even watch two “Sing Off” shows per year!

I think NBC would be foolish not to have another season of “The Sing Off.” I just found this show on it’s second season, watched all the episodes and continue to go to you tube to watch the video’s of all the singers. What a great show! My whole family loves it. It is probably the only show next to our fav, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, that we watch. Other then that its the same old dvd movies. PPPLease bring it back for Season 3 with much more! These people are awesome!!!
