Cedric the Entertainer is asking fans of The Soul Man, his TV Land sitcom, to help get the TV show renewed for a second season. In an open letter, the actor requested that viewers send a note to TV Land and provided a sample of what that letter could look like.
Soul Man premiered in late June to a very healthy 1.9 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Those are solid number sfor the small cable channel but they didn’t last. The second episode frell to 1.2 million and a 0.3 rating. The third dropped again, to 807,000 viewers.
The sitcom wasn’t TV Land’s worst performer — Retired at 35 holds that distinction — but it certainly wasn’t a hit either. TV Land hasn’t cancelled any of their original sitcoms yet and it didn’t seem likely that The Soul Man would be their first but perhaps Cedric knows something we don’t.
Here’s Cedric’s plea for help:
Ladies and Gentlemen I need your help… if you liked my show on TV Land, The Soul Man, then please take part in my letter writing campaign to bring it back for a second season . PLEASE BRING “THE SOUL MAN” BACK TO TV LAND
Dear Ms, Curren (MTV Networks):
We love “The Soul Man”! We are writing to you in hopes that our letter of support will encourage you to bring “The Soul Man” back to TV Land for another season.
After watching the debut of “The Soul Man” in June, we have become regular viewers /fans of that show and the TV Land network enjoying so much of your other programming such as “Hot in Cleveland” as well as the classic shows. It’s so refreshing to do “one-stop-shopping” at your network for quality family programming.
Please hear our voices and bring “The Soul Man” back to TV Land ! Thank you for your kind consideration.
What do you think? Do you like Soul Man on TV Land? Would you like to see it return for a second season?
