Conan does suck. It doesn’t matter what time slot you stick him in. Way too spastic for my taste. Like he loads up on 5 Hour Energy drinks. It’s L.A. He doesn’t fit the culture. His delivery should be smoother. And it would help if his style of comedy wasn’t an acquired taste.

All right!!!! Jay is back on NBC! I even rather like the earlier time slot. Maybe, just maybe, NBC’s brass will get the picture and get that idiot O’brien OFF the network. Jay’s ratings ROCKED on opening night. I believe even after he settles into his niche audience, he will do better that Conan is doing late night.

What a shame that NBC did not see it coming. I tried to watch Conan several times, but it was too painful. You know the old adage, if it works, leave it alone. Well I guess NBC did not get it and now the entire tonight show is in shambles. I just hope that Leno can revive the mess that NBC created.

Conan O’Brien lacks in talent for the Tongiht Show. Jimmy Fallon is more talented and would do a much better job. Andy, Conan’s sidekick is a joke. Why NBC gave O’Brien this job when Jay Leno was leading in the ratings on a constant basis I’ll never know.

It’s sad that quite a few people on here resort to calling the people who enjoy Conan “idiots”, and “stoners”. I enjoy Conan O’Brien, most people who watched Jay Leno aren’t ready for Conan’s style of humor. Evidently Jay though Conan was the right fit because Jay’s last guest on the Tonight show? Conan, Johnny Carson didn’t invite Jay on his show when Jay was supposed to take over.

Now, I’m sure most of the parents of the people who say “Carson and Leno rock!!!” and “O’Brien sucks because I’m an ornery person who doesn’t like change” thought that Carson was a terrible replacement compared to Steve Allen, and Jack Parr.

About this show.. I can’t really compare TS with Jay Leno and TS with Conan O’Brien, because I only saw one episode of Jay Leno – the channel wasn’t free. And even if I’ve seen some youtube-clips, I don’t think it would be fair, because I’ve loved Conan since I was 11

I don’t even visit NBC anymore after the news, which is sad since I watch the late news on my city’s NBC affiliate. You have to remember that Conan’s supposedly “fresh and new” comedy was simply an imitation of Dave which is why Conan was originally put in the Late Night spot. Why would people watch the pupil when they can watch the master? The problem has been that as Dave ages he loses more of the college crowd who unfairly won’t give him a chance because he looks like their grandfather. In this, Conan has been lucky because he looks about 10 years younger than he actually is. NBC has basically admitted that it’s going to stay with Conan if he can keep the youth audience – the preferred advertiser’s demographic. The problem with experimental comedy is that a large part of the experiment’s fail. Conan has always been hit or miss. One bit works, the next falls flatter than a pancake, and he has a bad habit of letting these failed bits go on and on. The Masturbating bear? Jay’s going to steal away all the mainstream audience and all the audience that wants their monologue earlier in the night. The best thing that can happen to Conan is for Dave to retire. Conan’s may end up hanging be a thread. He barely beat Craig Ferguson in the late night timeslot and Ferguson is really the more edgy comic. A few drunken frat boys do not Tonight Show success make.

I didn’t like Conan at 12:35. I really dislike him when Jay should be there instead. Jay has been doing stand up longer than conan had his own late show. Jay was much more personable. Wanted the audience to partipate, and the people at home to end there day relaxed and laughing there butts off after a day of work. I hate Conan’s hair, and voice, he has to go! Oh he is a terrible interviewer as well.

Let’s call a spade a spade. Conan is an idiot. The brass at NBC that thought having Conan host the Tonight Show should be pounding pavement looking for jobs. I told NBC about a year ago they were nuts when it was announced that Conan would be taking over for Leno. Did they listen? Nope. No wonder NBC is having a ratings problem. Maybe there is some fresh, young blood making decisions about things they know nothing about. A college degree does not mean you will make wise decisions.

I watched Conan once or twice a week. He is funny in small doses only. I don’t miss Jay – for the past year at least his monologues were disappointing. He was obviously reading every word and that ruined the delivery. I do miss The Tonight Show. I’ve been watching for 30 years. The best monologues on now are delivered by Craig Ferguson, a very funny man. Any chance he could be brought over to NBC?

I’m sorry but he looks uncomfortable and it feels uncomfortableand the new writers are the pits. I didn’t stay up late enough to watch much of Conan before the took over the tonight show so I was willing to give him a chance but it really is painful to watch and hard to listen to the forced laughter and appaluse. I’ve spent about 40 years watching the tonight show with Johnny and Jay but I’m afraid it’s at the end of the road. Just tonight there was some stupid segment on a traffic jam on one of the LA freeways and it was numerous cilcking dentures and a cat sitting in a litter box. Give me a break!! Maybe Cameron Diez will save the show tonight??

I used to stay up and watch Jay Leno’s monologue- it was always upbeat and funny. Conan’s new show just doesn’t have it. The skits are mostly a carryover of Conans Late Night Show which sucked. I find the skits not funny and particularly dislike the Twitter spot. Conan can’t hold a candle to Leno. What was NBC thinking?

I now switch to Dave Letterman.

I have monitored this site since having left a comment a couple of days ago, and the trend stands–an overwhelming majority of the respondents here despise what Conan O’brien has done to the Tonight Show. Two minutes of that nagging opening “music” is waaaaaay too much–I timed it tonight by flicking back at 10:37 in time to see that annoying jump and jacket crumple antic. Is he NUTS??? Letterman is not an option; he’s stupid, unfunny, and annoying as Conan. It’s HGTV for me until the NBC execs rectify this heinous situation. I can’t believe you think it’ll get better. I don’t know anyone who still tunes in. My friends nor I made it through night 1.

Conan is really bad..I think his audience is probably 15 year old nerds…He has little class and his stupid gyrations belong at a birthday party for a 5yr old. Most of the people I have spoken to who were fans of the tonight show don’t watch anymore and reluctantly have tuned into Letterman but Letterman is way out of line and I find his comments on various people more cruel than funny..what options are we left with at that time slot??

The Tonight Show used to have class. There was a certain genre that Jay kept up after Johnny left. Now it is just silly trash. I have tried to watch a couple of shows with Conan and all he has done is bring Late Night to an earlier hour. There are none of the elements that made the Tonight Show what is was. Conan is truly an awful replacement. He has no class whatsoever, and the Tonight Show is gone in my mind. I certainly will not watch it again.

Conan is hilarious. I don’t know what people are griping about. Yes, his humor is a bit different from Jay Leno. However, I thought Jay was a bit fake, just better at faking than most. Conan may be a little ill at ease right now, especially with the transition to a time when he must cater to a more PC public, in other words, the elderly and the vanilla. Conan is used to a more colorful, awake, ready for anything following. He will learn to tone down a bit so as not to scare the fuddy- duddies. Conan lets you know that he will do anything for a laugh and I like that. He want’s your attention, yes, he wants to make you laugh. That’s his job. He seems well respected and beloved by the acting community. He brings personality out of them that they might never show anywhere else. They all seem to feel free to be themselves when they come onto his show. Not stiff and formal like on Leno and Letterman, who is not at all funny. I do not like Andy and he should be re-called. The band, I love, though I loved Leno’s band more. Ever think they go crazy about him because they like Conan? He and Craig Kilborn are awesome. Down with Jimmy Fallon!

Conan O’brien was not, is not, and will not ever be funny! He he is a horrible replacement for Jay Leno as the Tonight Show host. I raced to change the channel before his stupid start-up music came on after Jay went off!! Conan has a voice reminiscent of dragging one’s fingernails down a chalkboard. He is corny and idiotic. I knew this would be a mistake from the time Jay made the announcement 5 yrs. ago. Who in the world (hint: at NBC) could have thought Conan could capture, retain, or build on Jay’s success or audience? This decision is reflrctive of where NBC’s ratings have gone!!! Get rid of Conan NOW; hurry up Sept. 14th!

I watched Conan, and now know why he was on at a later time slot with his old show. The pot heads come out at the later time slot and therefore think he is funny. This new time slot is wrong for his type of comedy. Move the Tonight Show back to the later time slot with the pot heads and Conan will be funny again. Good job NBC, you guys must have come across some good pot. But for us straight people, Conan is a bore.

I am and will always be a David Letterman & Craig Ferguson watcher, but I was curious about the transition over on NBC, so I checked it out. I watched Leno’s last show, and it just didn’t seem sincere at all. It looked like he was reading his “heartfelt” thank you from a cue card. I watched Conan’s first show, and it was just boring. I hardly laughed at all. Maybe he’ll get better within time, but right now, it’s not looking too well.

Also as a side note, I don’t think Jimmy Fallon is funny either. So I’m definitely staying over at CBS with Letterman & Ferguson, they are the best in late night in my opinion.

I tried to watch Conan but find the canned laughter irritating. The banter with the band is missing- the band looks very old school like from the 50’s. I mean whats with all the clapping, hooting and the band going crazy when Conan comes on to stage- that is just so ridiculous. Jay was warmer and so generous with others on the show- Conan seems to want all the attention to himself. I hope he changes the program based on things people are saying.

I am from Malaysia and had been enjoying Jay’s company every weekend. Over here, the Jay Leno show was shown on Saturdays and Sundays and they were like pleasant weekend retreat and I most look forward to.
I wanted to try Conan O’ Brian but I couldn’t get past the 1st 15 minutes. He is boring and his jokes are not funny. I might be wrong but I have this disturbing feeling that he is a racist too. So, bad choice, NBC.

Conan is for a younger generation. Older generations don’t understand him and there is nothing wrong with that but that doesn’t mean he sucks. Letterman is the popular choice among the 50+ crowd. Many of the people who comment that Conan sucks are comparing him to Carson. The majority of the crowd that Conan appeals to doesn’t even remember Johnny Carson because they were 5 when he went off the air.

I’ve never been a fan of Conan or his screaming trumpet intro, but I gave his Tonight Show debut a chance thinking the producers saw something in him that I missed. The Tonight Show now seems like nothing more than his old show slid into a new time slot. I’ve tried ABC and CBS since then, but I’m ready to just go to bed earlier or record Jimmy Kimmel to watch the next evening. Looking forward to Jay Leno’s return in September. What was NBC thinking? I’m with others: silly and funny are two different things, and I counted on the Tonight Show for classier entertainment. Hey, maybe NBC’s advertisers just want us to watch CBS?

Without delay, Conan should be relieved of his post. He may be an entertainer, but he annoys me. And, apparently, a large segment of the “Tonight Show” audience is annoyed as well. Comedy is a tough trade, and late night comedy may attract an audience that likes to be snarked at. But the “Tonight” crowd aren’t amused. I’ve deleted Conan and TTS from my PVR lineup.
Fred Willard would make a more pleasing host – he has that gentle humor – as well as a dead pan delivery that might be more appealing to the post prime time crowd.

I think that the tonight show has had it’s final curtain call unless they replace Conan…
I tried to give him a chance, but it is time for him to go.
As long as he is on the show I will no longer watch and I even watched since the 70’s but no more it’s time to explore my cable channels.
It’s just not him it’s his side kick the tommy boy actor wanna be, not funny at all, even if he wasn’t there it still wouldn’t help the show.
I am truly sorry the Tonight Show was the last thing my wife and I would watch before we turned out the lights, goodbye old friend.
