Here it is 2012 and I do miss The Unit as one of the shows that I was looking forward to the next episode. You state that the viewership went down and leveled off at many millions of viewers. It was one of a few shows that made me feel good as an American again and showed the traditional American values. Yes, maybe older Americans liked it more because it reminded us of the America when we were young. It is the younger generation that needs this series to know what it was like to be in America as the home of the proud and the brave. What it meant to see the “Stars and Stripes” when you were in trouble anywhere in the world. Bring back the series with the same actors and you will pick up the tempo of the morale in America.

When I watched this great show I did not care whether or not a black man had the lead. Dennis Haysbert has always been one of my favorite actors, thankfully you didn’t call him an african american cause I’m pretty sure he was born right here in the good old U.S. of A. Get over the color stuff guy, in case you have not noticed most of us in the popular age bracket for this show already have unless it comes up by someone like you. For those that haven’t gotten over it, I doubt either you or I hang with them too much. Haysbert is just a good actor, he played the President in season one of 24. I think in real life he would do a helll of a lot better than that donkey Obummer. I cricitize Obummer cause I think he is an IDIOT, not because he is a black man.

i think they canceled because as usual their is not enough sleeze.
as with everything else the good shows get the cut. The Unit was a show that would have
stuck through any financial rough patches. It was clean and sensible and often realistic, and those who have traveled and served do really appreciate that show. It would be so awesome if Sgt Mjr Blaine could come back and kick it into overdrive.
The government and financial institutions cant cater to us citizens, it would be nice if the networks could do so, and give us what we want.
I miss that show. truly.

I do not watch very much “prime time”. Most of the Television shows are insultingly moronic and idiotic. Unfortunately I only began to apprecitate “The Unit” this past year, usually the re-runs. This is so typical, cancelling a substantial show. The only show that does not glorify the criminal and actually caught and punished the evil.

aGREED. fOR ONCE a BLACK man is in the lead of a one hour ACTION series, head of the tactical special forces unit and it was canceled. Therefore my DVR will record EVERY episode from now on because, as the article indicates, I was a former U.S. Army and Marine Corp operative who worked with the types of characters featured on the show.

There are way too many crappy black sitcoms (except Bernie Mac – love his because it doesn’t insult me with a laugh track and is more realistic) that feature blacks (including Tyler Perry’s) acting like minstrels. This one made me feel proud of serving and although I never watched it during prime time, I will certainly record it every time it is on the air in syndication. I can’t stand CSI, NCIS or most of the law enforcement shows because I am not a criminal. Why would I want to watch such stuff and can only wonder why the public does. The Unit had heart AND a soul and I have only seen maybe one episode. But the realism captures me and reminds me of many covert missions that I cannot talk about. So I proudly will record this series to show my future students in my media classes.

The cancellation of this outstanding series was another incredibly idiotic move by an inept and completely stupid management team at CBS. I am not of military background myself, or have any close friends or family that are experienced in this arena….but found this series to be riveting. The cast is superb and the plots lines engaging….I very much appreciated the struggles of the wives and family as they supported their soldier-spouses…… and was moved by the personal ethic struggles of the ‘team’ members. This series gave us a realistic look at the sacrifices that our soldiers and their families make in attempts to keep us safe……and it has made me think deeply about what it takes. It makes me even more proud of the courageous soldiers who took out Osama Bin Laden…
CBS: At a time when our country still struggles with preventing terrorist attacks, this show would be such a morale boost for so many…and help appreciate our soldiers even more. And for heaven’s sake I am a Democrat!! BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!

I am taken a back with this cancellation. With all of the dumb reality show on the air now, what has happened to the good shows on television. We are going to a reality TV world and that’s going to be our downfall because noone is going to watch TV after while. I love the unit and the reruns. I think they portray the military special forces very well and with that they would bring this show back, but on a different day of the week. Timing is everything in this business. I have never seen them try and move the show around to see how it does on a different night. This is a true heartbreak and I wish they would reconsider. Don’t take away a great show!!! Get rid of the junk shows that are making America the crazy country and full of crazy people for the world to mock.

Ranger, What would you think if the mgmt brought The Unit back on television as sort of 2 hr drama with Snake Doc leading the others on a VERY DANGEROUS rescue mission in Iran, Iraq or Afghan…? Just food for thought. I have watched EVERY episode numerous times via Directv. Wow!!!!!!!!!!! I know every word and/or situation the guys have been in from the very start.

Perhaps we can stimulate other Unit fanatics to write in or call to make this happen.

I am a former ranger who loves military flicks. Among all the top-notch military shows, The Unit is my favorite, without question!! Honestly, if you think about it, placing this television series at the very top of the heap–above classic and award winning military movies–speaks volumes! Dennis “Snake Doc” Haysbert does such an impressive job in his dominant and cognizant role. Ya gotta love it! He exemplifies the role of being confident and not cocky or arrogant. Each of the other characters also superbly click in their roles! I also enjoyed how the wives roles were well integrated into the series. As other members elude, this series had excellent writing, with truly realistic story lines and plots. My wife and I continue to watch re-run episodes every weekend together; she especially likes “Snake Doc” and “Red Cap.” Yeh, , , me too… I definitely appreciated that “Red Cap” was not in the least way portrayed as a wimpy ditz—no place on board The Unit for that. All in all, I must admit that I am honestly disappointed that the show has been discontinued. As mentioned by another member, I don’t know what CBS mgt was thinking either… Of nearly 339,000 ratings for The Unit currently on Netflix, with an average star of 4.1, that tells me that I am not alone in my wish for more new episodes and seasons of The Unit.

This show should go back on air because it gives younger ppl an urge to join the military to serve the country in many dif ways either in the field or in the office , it shows great values an determination of others to protect the country. But most of all it shows stabalization in a family which The Unit/Wives have shown even when there were bad things happening an they always came together an made things right. Honestly thats what the U.S./World needs today! Its something to consider.

Ratings ratings ratings… It’s all rubbish, I never watched this show until the last episode of the first season, due to the fact thy being a soldier myself I was on jungle exercise and couldn’t find anywhere to plug in my tv that said the minute I got home
I bought the DVD, continued by the DVDs of other seasons as I know alot of the lads on base worldwide did, now if it all boils down to ratings send a poll to uk and us forces and ask how many of us watch it, you be looking at at least 100,000 that just own the DVD, then we watch in groups of at least 5. Ao my advice get your calculator out and take 100,000 x5 x ever episode ever made and add that your your little ratings sheet and you will see worth bringing back best show ever

This is why we shouldn’t watch TV anymore. Every time a good quality storyline with well developed characters, action packed, and attention grabbing show is created for a intense TV series its canceled, because it cost to much. Well the ones that keep you on the edge of your seat usually do. When is someone who knows good TV going to be making the decisions. I am tired of the same crap that is on TV now. They are all the same, I can predict the ending before it comes, because its like the other six series that are on the air now. This show was great, it made me want more even while I was watching it. I am also disappointed that the network canceled the show before it had a proper ending. There are too many good shows that this happens to. If you are going to cancel something give it a proper ending or don’t even bother making the damn show. Dennis Haysbert I say find a network that knows good TV series and air the show somewhere else. Please! It’s too good to end it this way.

Solid drama, good action, well-developed characters…and insight into military (and special ops) culture. I am pretty much a pacifist, but have respect for these people (though not for the lunatic wars in Iraq and Afghanistan (and drone attacks in Pakistan) Bush and Obama are responsible for (nor for them as presidents).

I wish CBS would wise up and keep programs of this caliber alive for at least a couple more seasons.

I was so disappointed when this series ended- can’t they sit down and think about doing a few unit tv movies? Or movies like they did with 24? I feel like it’s unresolved and I really wanted to watch more shows. I am quite picky with what I watch and just loved the character complexities- amongst other things. I loved the action and just love Dennis Haysbert. Please bring it back or do a follow up movie once or twice a year. I miss it- and miss watching it with my hubby- who has always been facinated with special forces stuff. Please!!! There’s not much worthwhe to watch unless you like cooking over here in Oz!!! Haha

I was very dissappointed about “The Unit” ending. I am a Proud Army wife!! I don’t think any other show ever did the justice of what these guys and families go through like “The Unit” did. You know which one I am reffering to on the other network that glamorizes the military rather then showing the true life of the families and the brave men. We not only go through them being at war but constant training and them being gone. Life isn’t some fairytale but we try like hell to make our familes happy for the time we do have together. Being a wife of a soldier in a more specialized area, The Unit portrayed accurately what it is like from the day to day life for these kinds of families. My husband and I are so sad that the show was ended in such a poor manner. Believe me there isn’t one family in the military yet we haven’t met who doesn’t own the entire series or has watched them all including the reruns. None of the families like the other prime time shows these days, because we cannot relate to them in a time of War. This was a show not just for enertainment but a show to be proud of what we give to this country on a daily basis. I really wish the network would find the money to restart the show or create movies. I think this was one show your network can truly be proud.

Why cancel it? It was a great show, I always took this show as a way to thank our military n their family. I know plenty of people who love this show. I’m 28yrs old n been watching this since it started. My in laws watches this show and they are in their 30′s n 40′s definitely not 55. My friends are in their 20′s n loves this show as well. So pls bring this show back. I don’t understand y these good shows get canceled n soap opera is running after 30 yrs. This show is on the same level as 24 and it makes no sense to cancel these show. Pls bring it back..

As an ex-Army oldtime Nam-Era Vet , I can tell you that most of the returning GI’s that I know did watch all the series. Does one of the 22 year old programming directors really think we sit around watching Dancing with the stars, or some of the “NEW” programs that waste the space on our tv guides ? Get with the real program and put the UNIT back where it belongs on primetime; by the way us old guys do buy all the pills and meds on the long commercials we do have to sit and watch between the good stuff. This post may be old but you never know who might read it and think ok !!! good idea.

I’m an XGI. 1 year in Nam. Forward Observing Team 70-71.I Corps. Every once in a while there are shows that go beyond the origonal intent, make you think, open a door into an otherwise clandestine world that we all knew existed but just never saw up close. The UNIT is just such a series. On par with MASH before ,this one packs the ballistic punch of a 9mm, the certainty of metal to metal contact with the exactness of laguage that harkins back to the training barracks at Camp LaJune or Ft Benning before political correectness.

If there is any talk of reviving this terrific series in any way, know that I represent a multitude of military folks who see in this show a significant reality that they have known all of their career. There are diplomatic tasks to be done that can only be accomplished by a very small band of exceedingly well trained men and women. The general civilian population may not appreciate this fact or recognize the extreme bravery they display as a part of their every waking breath. The UNIT displayed the innr workings of such a society and their call to duty. Everything will end someday but this series was taken out before all of the chacters came to fruition, before the rotors ceased to spin, and long before the last clip was loaded or the rifle sighted -in. Bring back Mr Blue, Mr Brown, Mr White and Mr Green most riki-tick.

I cant get over how good this show was, but the ending to the whole series was stupid. What happened to Molly and Tom Ryan? Also, Charles just got married and now the shows over?! Ughh! WOW I just finished watching the complete series and I so loved it, in every way you can fall for the people in a TV show I did. This show left you wanting and waiting for what was around the next corner. It was not the best ending at all as I was very disappointing in how it came to a close, just didn’t seem to do the series justice how it came to an end. Would be the greatest thing to see this series come back to life as there is no other like “The Unit”

I’ve watched EVERY episode of The Unit — from the pilot to the finale — without fail.
I own all 4 seasons of DVD…; I now watch the shows in syndication when ever and where ever they come on TV — I guess you can say “I’m a FAN” of the Unit.
I was crushed to know that this awesome series was being cancelled and kept hoping that ‘the powers that be’ would see the error in their decision to cancel the Unit and that they would some how find it in their hearts to renew the show. It’s not too late guys — BRING THE UNIT BACK!!!!!!

How is it possible to end The Unit like this. I just recently watched it on DVD in the Netherlands. To my opinion it is one of the best drama series in the last 10 years. more realistic than 24. It cannot be the end with all the openings in the story.

What about Snake Doc, Cool Breeze in china. What about Dirt Diver and his family. Is Betty Blue getting married or not. How is Molly doing…..????

We, the people, the viewers of “The Unit” should know how things would have ended.

The Unit is a program that displays every aspect of entertainment (drama, comic relief, realism, conflict, moral lessons, odyssey-type theatrical journeys, action, etc). Television is fill with the same humdrum fads and fixations. The Unit is unique, it is special, and if properly marketed can be just as big or grander than Burn Notice that’s aired on channel USA. The ideas for the fifth and final season would have been a great ending because you do not expect shows like The Unit to exist for more than five seasons because of the unique nature of the program’s curriculum being based on covert and black bag operations that only extraordinary individuals in reality can perform, and only the best and believable actors and production/backstage companies and staffs can offer and fabricate. For one last dynamic season I urge the viewers to continue to support The Unit and I urge the critics and those invested into the show to make one last grand stand for all of the die-hard The Unit fans because this in turn increases the love and respect for all those who are risking their lives in service of God and Country. There is so much more room especially now with new video games like Call of Duty: Black Ops, etc to reach a younger audience. Thank you for your attention.

Just look at all of the garbage on TV these days. I am sick to the point of vomiting with all the dozen or more of the so called reality shows on TV. I get more than enough reality at home and I want a show I can get lost in. The Unit was the best show that has been on TV in many many years and I can’t believe the network boneheads cancelled it. The characters were awsome, plots were exciting, effects were suberb and it broke my heart when I heard it was chopped. To quote a great Jonas line “Well doesn’t that just make the cheese more binding”. It was the worst network decision in the history of bad decisions. I’m tired of being polite and I demand they bring back the Unit!!!

I too just recently discovered this show through midnight rerun. It is totally worth bringing back, only advertise it this time. Super great show, great acting, superb weekly action. Its a shame I caught on too late. The show 24 was great but too predictable with each passing season, this one on the other hand was entitled to endless storyline possibilities.

I discovered the unit about 2 years ago just watching the odd episode on bravo and i fell in love with it. I now have all 4 series and i am so dissapointed to learn that this show was cancelled. I understand it was cancelled because viewing dropped and for that i have something to say: if i had seen this advertised when it was first released i would have without a doubt watched it every week and a massive number of my friends and family agree (specifically the men) infact if i had seen it advertised at all but i never did. if you were to get enough people just to see an advertisement you would have more fans than you know what to do with.

please please please bring it back i want to see where whiplash has to go and if jonas and molly work it out and if mack and tiffy stay on the right track. its a fantastic show please bring it back.

Get the cast to help, get them involved in doin a fifth series. Or try a different network. It wuz an awesome series. I get series 1-4 boxset 4 xmas. Its one of the best series I’ve watched. Its up there with the likes of 24, prison break, band of brothers.

Cmon. At least consider doin the fifth series, & if u have 2 make it the last one. So b it. At least let it go out in style.

I’ve just recently found out about this show and now I’m hooked I’m former military so this show was close to home for me, and to find out it was canceled broke my heart. They can cancel lye to me that show is boring even thou the unit was non fictional show still hit on alot of real life situation that our soldiers have to go through every day so in a way the show acted as a voice for those who can’t speak on what they go through on a everyday bases. I hope, no pray that they reverse there decision and bring sergent blane and his boys back I know thousand of purple would appreciated it myself included

What a shame…………I am sad that they are not producing any more cause it beats csi and any other similar programs hands down. Seriously they should of kept it going because its a fantastic series. UK Fan x

I am trully disappointed to learn then the unit will no longer be produced. That is on show that I followed religiously.
Atleast the do season five, the final season. You left all of us hanging and that is really not avery good feeling.

We love this show. These networks aren’t fooling anyone by having these cheap game and reality shows to save revenue. That isn’t entertainment. The Unit was very intelligent, well-acted and visually exceptional. And just exciting. Of course, no one would think that had any redeeming cqualities to keep in on TV. I often think when networks move shows around on different days and times that no one can find them. Sometimes it takes a few seasons for them to add to their loyal viewers, because networks just don’t promote enough. But then they promote the heck out of Jersey Shows. God help us. Thank goodness we can watch re-runs of Unit, Monk and others
on and buy seasons of The Unit, Wire, Friday Night Lights. etc.

I can’t believe that a program with the qualitys that The Unit have has to be taken off the air. Networks made this mistake before with a little low budget show several years ago called Star Trek, you may have heard of it!!! I make sure I have the TVO set to record all episodes of the show when I’m not at home. This show has superior performances from it’s entire cast, both the men and the women. Todays audiences are tired of the lame CSI type shows. Come on Networks continue The Unit, a show with drama that deals with events that our military men and women face everyday. The actors on this show are all first class and potray honorable people determined to do the right thing and get the job done no matter what the personal sacrifice.
This is what the majority of todays television just doesn’t show enough of to influence our youth and tomorrows leaders and defenders.
Think about it networks……
Return this 1st class show to the air and your viewing public…..

Lesser shows then the Unit have been cancelled from major networks such as CBS and have been reived on TNT,USA,Bravo,ect. Someone needs to write these networks and get this show back on. There are a ton of us that would love to see this show continue for at least one more season.

You really messed up when you cancelled The Unit. I kept hoping that you would finally come to your senses and put the program back on the air; and the age gap that you placed on the average person watching this show is extremely underestimated. I am in my 30′s and my husband and all our friends watched this show religiously. All of us own all 4 seasons of The Unit, and the book Inside DELTA Force. I hope that you are still receiving emails on this show; because it is the biggest screw up that Fox has ever done. Either bring the show back on or PLEASE tell us how to get the rest of the Season’s 5 and up.
Sincerely hate that u made such a crude and indecisive judgement call as to cancel this show.
