I couldnt agree with you more Joe. But the execs want what sells and there is this silent majority there that has a strong influence. But what mainstream America are shows that can make us laugh, wonder and enjoy watching, Here’s some examples.

Star Trek the original series-need i say more it brought a lot of things that we wouldnt dream possible back in the sixties to what is possible now.

MASH.
Magnum PI- The ONLY show ever, next to CHINA BEACH that shows Vietnam Vets in a positive and true way..

What’s needed folks are shows that shows average American’s working on life’s problems. Look at what we’re facing now. Recession, Iraq and Afghanistan, the health bill god knows what. we need shows that can make light of or bring the message of what is happening around us today. We need to laugh again. find something to really laugh at or for familes to be brought back toghether again.
Now comes the other mitigating factor. Opposition groups, And there are a HELL of a lot of them who would probably protest the programs saying that we arent showing THIER message or their way..hey folks..shows are meant to ENTERTAIN! Not give political messages or tell us how to live. they are meant for ENTERTAINMENT.

I agree. I’m totally not even interested in regular tv BECAUSE of all of the reality crap! It’s gone on way too long. How can they have eight seasons of LOST and not even renew The Unit for a fifth and final season? My wife used to LOVE Lost and she’s been ready for it to end for 2 years. These TV execs don’t even know what we want or what makes for a good show. It’s wealthy politicians thinking that they speak on my behalf when they have no idea what’s important to me or those in my age or income bracket.

I still watch all of the reruns of the Unit… I bought seasons 1-4 this show is the best show i have seen in a long time… I don’t even watch regular t.v any more because its filled with reality t.v crap.

Why would they take the best show off t.v for something fake like medium.

Hey folks..I got a crazy idea that just came to my head. it sounds wild, but it just might work to bring the Snake doctor and our brothers in the 303rd back on the air, ANYTHING will be a hell of a lot better than watching Simon Bloody Cowell and Gordon “Donkey” Ramsey or some actors dancing on stage. ALL GI’s who want to have the Unit back sign a petition and send it to those executives at CBS and tell ‘em how we feel about this show! I dont know about you guys, But I’ll be damned if the NAVY gets all the good shows while we had THE SHOW that shows us who we were, and while we’re at it lets contact CSM Haney and get him on board and fight like hell to get the show back on.
However there is another alternative. We can raid the CBS studios and show the Executives our displeasure! (Just Kidding)

i dont even watch cbs anymore once they bring the unit back ill start again me and about 200 of my freinds and family i hadalot of problems before geting into this show and now its goneoh yeh 115fa camp casey korea has banned cbs til they get thier heads strait as well as 141fa ft stewart ga thats about 5,000 soldiers i myself know how it feels to see and do things that we cant explain to our families and the unit provids a way we can all show our honor no matter what happens or has to happen to get it done>

Its a shame. this was a show which showed soldiers in a positive and proper light and it was as close to realism and insight, it was one of the finest shows in tv! Now all we have is the silly realism tv or shows about dancing or whatever..For crying out loud folks You seem to be misorented on what the american public wants to see, If we wanted to see dancing or some guys in a talent show we go see it live but we want to forget about a long day at work and be entertained, we want to laugh or watch a good drama and root for guys or gals who do whats right. We dont want to see political messages or issues we want to see shows which will entertain and make us think at times, who wants to see some obnoxious English guy bad mouthing people or some damn Cook who badmouths people all the damn time, Come on!

I started watching this show on accident one night thinking it was something else. After the very first episode, I immediately opened a NetFlix account and have watched every episode religiously! It truly brings to light the “Whole” soldier, not just the asskicking, door-busting grunt. The way the writers/producers have intertwined the lives of all these families is absolutely fantastic. It seemed like for once there was a show that didnt include the same damn cops and court rooms and pyschic bull. Sure the average veiwership was round 9 million, but hey they also said it only costs $3 mil a show come on CBS really? Understand that not only does this show entice people but it brings light to those individuals who are serving in combat/black ops and while we will never know who they are we can still show that we respect what they do simply by watching a show dedicated to their sole purpose. Do the right thing, bring the show back for its finl season, allow the actors to finish an amazing show and continue paying tribute to the thousands of soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen deployed overseas or in one fashion or another defending this country with their lives! Thank you, CBS you need to do the right thing…stop thinking about your “tight” bank account and continue to air the show!

Bring it on! I need season 5 or at least make it a movie!
I am a veteran, Navy Corpsman I served with the USN and the US Marines. I have never seen a better episode than the unit. It would be a good thing to show our Armed Forces Members today who continue to fight for our freedom. Ladies and Gentlemen who I am greatly proud of. I figure this type of show is motivational and inspirational!

My husband and i absolutely loved this show! We were extremely disappointed that the fourth season was the last, we own them all. And when we watched the last episode of the fourth season we were extremely disappointed in the way that it ended! I think having season 5 be the last season would have been the better option. The plans sound great and I think it would have turned out to be the best season!

I grew up watching Boston Blackie and all those good guy catch the bad guy tv shows. Along with all the Cowboys and Indians, more westerns than anything else, seeing Clint Eastwood slide his horse to a stop in Rawhide was one of the reasons I made it my business as a kid growing up in the Bland Projects of Queens NY to learn how to really ride a horse. Now as I guess I would be considered an old man ,The Unit has taken its’ majestic place as the “GOOD GUYS CATCHING THE BAD GUYS” with out the stupidity of the use of mediums or anything that isn’t real. CBS is in a sense like Detroit, instead of really listing to their audience they want to say what we really want. Detroit got its come-ups by the Japanese. And I still can’t wait for 24 to come every Monday night. CBS—DETROIT, DETROIT—CBS. I haven’t owned an American made car for over 20 years…CBS—DETROIT.. When will they learn???? WE WANT THE UNIT RETURNED… AND THAT IS THAT.

I never thought this show would be so interesting. I am very upset the show was canceled, I have recorded all the shows of session 4. This was a wonderful show for me and my family. We look forward to seeing the shows before the cancellation. There are so many fans out here that would love to see more of this show. The show was more ever day life of some solider. people may complain that the unit wasn’t perfectly realistic, but in my opinion, it was just about the closest portrayal of special forces and the JSOC that has ever been made. Tactically is was near perfect and although the story line dropped in one or two areas, i loved it and i hope someone or moreover a group of people can res erect the show maybe on fox or some other network. the unit. the sarah conner chronicles. knight rider. the bionic woman. these are all action adventure shows which highly interested me for their escape from reality tv, and the monotony of my everyday depressing life. The contestant earns 5g‘s a week with a 100g bonus to make it to a tenth and final week without being voted out for a less than 60% approval rating. Runnersup to replace any voted down contestants. Any idol killed will have a sponsored charity of their choice receive a 1 million donation from Uncle Sam in their name. Unedited and uncensored viewership could be sold at a premium/Pay Per View. ONLY IN AMERICA!

I would tune in to see a reality show like that. I would even vote too!

Iam a serving British Royal Marines Commando and the unit has kept 800 serving Royal Marines very happy whilst on various deployments around the world the action is intense and the senarios very plauseable and not that fair from the truth its a very good way to show the civilian population what the Armoured forces from across the globe actually get up to and shows the ups and downs and preasures put on our partners whilst we are away doing what we do

Although I loved all of the seasons of the Unit and want to see it come back, I don’t agree with the direction the final season was going to take the show. I would have liked a “few” character changes.. (i.e. Regina Taylor with Angela Bassett or Phylisia Ayers-Allen). I think I could have written a very good season involving only the actors that are there now! I’m not comfortable losing the “Heros” that I’ve become to care about. It took me a while to come to the reality of losing “Hammerhead.”

So is Fox going to pick it up? “hint,hint”

It was a great show. Granted I just got into it but the show aired on Sunday Night. That was a terrible time slot. How about any alternate time from NCIS? With all of the reality shows we are being tortured with, it would’ve been nice to watch a show like that. Something different, exciting and with substance. I avoid regular TV channels mostly because there are way too many reality shows; which I am so sick of.

One prime factor about those 9 million or more faithful watchers, I read this somewhere, is that they were mostly an older age group, 50 plus, and networks only care about the 35, or 25, and under age groups. Never mind that, the boomers age group, are still the largest group, we just don’t count. For another example of that, I once signed up to be part of testing for new products, which includes TV shows. Of the umpteen dozen calls I’ve had in the first several months, as soon as they asked me my age group it’s well sorry you don’t qualify for the target group we are seeking, after several months of that I told them not to call unless it was for something my age group was allowed to be a participant, it’’s the 50 to 65 group, and they have not called back once in over a year now. I’d call that age discrimination, wouldn’t you.
IF they had anyone with some working brain cells at the networks they would pander more to my age group, and target the ads to it as well. Boomers as a group are still the most educated and well funded, have more disposable income, segment of the population than any other in the history of this country . And we loved The Unit. If they had any brains they would expand that style of show, NBC could use one to finally retire Leno.

Has CBS thought about the fact that those 9 million viewers in the later years were mainly a military audience? I spent 21 years, 11 months, 15 days, 5 1/2 hours on active duty defending America and our way of life. The Unit was a show that hit home because of it’s realism as it relates to my job when I was active duty. Emergency Management, HAZMAT Response, WMD Specialized Teams and oh those military missions that we could not fully disclose to our spouses. Did I mention I’m told that I look like Jonas. My grand daughter loves the Allstate commercials; she thinks it’s me. Thanks CBS for giving up on your MILITARY audience

The Unit was one of my favorite shows of all time. I would have liked if they even agreed to do a short 13 episode season 5 to at least give the audience some closure to the show. As the wife of an Army soldier myself, I really enjoyed this show. It was a nice, allbeit dramatized, look at what military families sometimes go through. I just want to take a minute and say “Hats OFF” to the writers, actors, directors, etc. It was a good run…wish it could have been SOOOO much longer! So disappointed to not get just ONE more season to finish it off at least… I guess I’ll just have to tie my own loose ends for these characters.

My husband and I are very disappointed seeing such a great quality show come to an end. It is hard to find great shows like this. I have never watched medium and could care less for it. The Unit is one of the best written shows in over 50 years. People stopped watching TV during the writers strike and The Unit was on too late for most people to watch. My husband had to go to work and the show was on later than I could stay awake. I am currently buying the series (1 year series every 3 months). They are kind of expensive but worth every penny.

I hope the gods find a way to making season five because I don’t think that the series came to a final end in season 4. There is a lot more mileage to get out of the Unit and it would be a shame to stop in mid stroke. The way season 4 ended I automatically expected another season.

I have watched all seasons several times now and have totally enjoyed them all; it would be nice to see more.

CBS the customer is always right MAKE SEASON 5……………………….

This was one of the best shows TV had on and they go and cancel it. Yet, they keep creating reality shows, or so-called reality shows, that are just awful! Can’t imagine the ilk that watch this crap, I don’t get the logic. This show dealt with real issues, in this time of war. Not issues we like to think about or issues that make us feel all warm and fuzzy. It does seem to me, that it may have been too much information for the american public to stomach. I am so sick of this Political correct fad, why does this matter? The charactors were so conflicted, and the situations dealt with life in the US military, not just the soldier’s sacrifice, but their wifes and children. I know its just fiction, but it had really well thought out story lines. I am really upset they canceled it, they should have at least finished it with the fifth season. That’s just my opinion……. BRING BACK THE UNIT, MOST RIKI TIK !!! Go for BLANE, RIGHT AS RAIN!

I watched the Unit always wanting more. Now I have to watch re-runs. Medium was
not that great so scraping the Unit was a poor choice. Hope CBS or ANY NETWORK would reconsider this program and bring it back as first run. It’s clearly missed as are
it’s characters.

It would be nice to just have some closure. I’m sure if CBS or any other network was able to bring back the Unit for a final season it would receive very high ratings. I have been watching all 4 seasons and no matter how many times you watch them, you still feel empty after watching the last episode.
