The White Queen: “Cancelled” by BBC, No Season Two

The White Queen canceled, no season twoEven though Starz just premiered their new TV series, The White Queen, we already know there won’t be a second season.

Based on Philippa Gregory’s bestselling historical novel series The Cousin’s War, The White Queen tells the story of three very different women as they attempt to scheme, manipulate and seduce their way onto the English throne. The cast includes Max Irons, James Frain, Rebecca Ferguson, Janet McTeer, Ben Lamb, Amanda Hale, Tom McKay, Aneurin Barnard, David Oakes, Faye Marsay, and Eleanor Tomlinson.

The show is co-financed by the BBC in the United Kingdom and Starz here in the states. The 10-part series began airing on BBC1 in June and completed its run last Sunday night.

According to Broadcast Now, the BBC has maintained that The White Queen was intended to run just one season. However, Gregory had hinted that there were hopes to continue the drama via an adaptation of The White Princess. That novel follows the story of Elizabeth of York who went on to marry Henry VII, the first Tudor King.

It now appears that a continuation won’t be happening. A BBC spokesperson said, “The White Queen will not be returning, but it is important to note that it was never actually conceived as a returnable series.”

What do you think? Are you sorry that The White Queen won’t be continuing in some form? Are you glad that the story was designed to wrap after 10 episodes?

I am canceling Starz just because they are not renewing The White Queen or have not stated that they are coming out with a sequel/continuance of the show. I have left multiple comments and am extremely upset about this. This was an amazing show and I am not one who watches shows “religiously” but this one I did. Big mistake Starz/ “BBC”

I’m beyond words upset at BBC!! I never get into these stories, but I LOVE this one. There is too much crap on tv with reality shows -which I hate! I’m very sad and upset there is no more White Queen. Come back with an encore White Queen PLEASE.. You left us hanging and that’s so unfair! COME BACK . It’s a based on a best selling historical novel you have to bring it back. It’s a NO BRAINER.

I really love this show. I’m from the U.S. and even BBC’s crappiest shows are better than the shows we have here. I Absolutely love this show and I can’t live without another season or at least adaptation to it

That is very disappointing , a second season would have been perfect in telling the actual story of the white queen. I wanted to see what happens to the daughter . She was so afraid of becoming queen and marring into the Tudor family. It would have been a great season especially with margret the new kings mother. That would have been a blood bath and that is the truth. So sad too bad

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED ! These are the types of shows that deserve airtime due to the fact that so called “reality ” show monopoly . If I must pay for.TV , I would like a chance to enjoy or even learn something . Even though The White Qeen wasn’t supposed to be more then 1 season , I do hope there will be “The White Princess” when all is said and done . Starz , BBCA etc. , PLEASE RECONSIDER !

So disappointed. I feel like I just wasted my time watching the show, even though I loved it.
Certainly no since in buying this on DVD if it comes out,it has a cliff hanger. It would just make me mad to watch it knowing there’s no more. #madatstarzandbbc #thumbsdown so sad…..

Please reconsider and finish the book series. PLEASE???!!!

By the way….what happens to the props? You can make my year by sending me something with a letter of authenticity ? Not that I’d sell anything, but to just prove where it came from..I broke my foot in February and may need surgery. They are talking about a rod :(

I’m just a stay a home mom to 4 kids..they are 24,15,12, and 10. I am 41 years old. Married to my high school sweetheart for almost 25 years (June 2nd 2014 ) . I would LOVE to visit Europe but the money just isn’t there for 6 people. I guess having a prop will have to do,if you could send me something.

I soooo don’t want the show to end!!!!! I looked forward to every Saturday just to watch The White Queen.

I know I speak for many,please don’t end it.
