The White Queen: “Cancelled” by BBC, No Season Two

The White Queen canceled, no season twoEven though Starz just premiered their new TV series, The White Queen, we already know there won’t be a second season.

Based on Philippa Gregory’s bestselling historical novel series The Cousin’s War, The White Queen tells the story of three very different women as they attempt to scheme, manipulate and seduce their way onto the English throne. The cast includes Max Irons, James Frain, Rebecca Ferguson, Janet McTeer, Ben Lamb, Amanda Hale, Tom McKay, Aneurin Barnard, David Oakes, Faye Marsay, and Eleanor Tomlinson.

The show is co-financed by the BBC in the United Kingdom and Starz here in the states. The 10-part series began airing on BBC1 in June and completed its run last Sunday night.

According to Broadcast Now, the BBC has maintained that The White Queen was intended to run just one season. However, Gregory had hinted that there were hopes to continue the drama via an adaptation of The White Princess. That novel follows the story of Elizabeth of York who went on to marry Henry VII, the first Tudor King.

It now appears that a continuation won’t be happening. A BBC spokesperson said, “The White Queen will not be returning, but it is important to note that it was never actually conceived as a returnable series.”

What do you think? Are you sorry that The White Queen won’t be continuing in some form? Are you glad that the story was designed to wrap after 10 episodes?

I don’t understand why they always cancel the best shows where people actually can learn something about history and instead push the garbage like reality TV on everyone. This show was fantastic and the BBC and Starz are making a huge mistake by not going for a Season 2. The story of Elizabeth of York and Henry Tutor deserves to be told, afterall, they are the parents of the infamous Henry VIII. What could be more interesting than exploring the reign of the parents and times that produced both Henry VIII, and their grandaughter, Elizabeth I? Give us more!!!!!!

I can not find the any of the series after the first one. Does a person have to have Starzz to see the series. I saw the first one on blockbusters . I am sad to hear White Queen is canceled.

I’ve watched every episode of the white queen so far, I feel it is an empowering drama that lures people into watching the entertaining series. I really was hoping for a second season, since the first season was exceptional. I hope the producers reconsider their position on the matter.

No second season ? Really? Really? What a cheat. Get the audience hooked and then dump us. Is this what we can expect from this station?

I am astounded! This is a bright and entertaining series. I don’t understand how so many pathetic programs remain season after season. This was my only reason for keeping Starz.

Starz is losing a great show. I have been a loyal watcher and this is such an amazing show. I am so addicted to this show. This is so disappointing…..Just like Camelot! I am so tired of such good series playing for a season and then poof they are gone. This show MUST renew. It will generate a good audience if they give it a second chance.

I really enjoyed this show as well as all of my freinds and family that watched. It would have been nice for the series to continue. I guess we will now have to watch the Reign.

Thanks for a nice run. Hopefully, BBC and STARZ will reconsider.
