To little surprise, CBS has pulled Three Rivers from the Sunday night schedule, effective immediately. Will the show be back? Has it been cancelled?
Three Rivers follows a group of dedicated doctors and medical staffers who help those in need of organ transplants. The series stars Alex O’Loughlin, Katherine Moennig, Daniel Henney, Justina Machado, Christopher Hanke, Amber Clayton, and Alfre Woodard.
The medical drama got off to a slow start in the ratings back in early October. Unfortunately, the numbers only got worse as the weeks wore on and it became a likely candidate for early cancellation.
To CBS’ credit, the network has been patient with the series and has kept it on the air. Two weeks ago, the network tried switching timeslots with Cold Case. While the veteran crime drama benefited from the time change and attracted more viewers, Three Rivers did not.
Three Rivers has now been pulled from the Sunday night schedule. As expected, Cold Case will slip into the earlier timeslot and repeats of various crime dramas will take over at 10pm.
A CBS spokesperson has said that Three Rivers’ fate has not yet been decided but the network has not ordered any additional installments beyond the initial 13 episodes.
Eight episodes of the drama have been aired, leaving five on the shelf. CBS will likely burn them off either on Saturdays or during the summer months but, unless the execs have a major change of heart, Three Rivers is essentially cancelled.
What do you think? What went wrong with Three Rivers? Is Sunday night football to blame for the show’s failure to attract more viewers or was the show flawed?

I loved the show. I through it was going back after the football season. Airing it on Sunday was a bad time slot. If a sporting event ran into over-time, the show aired on a later time. If they move the show to another day and time slot, it will much, much better. So I hope they do air the last 5 shows on another day and time and they will see how much better the show will do.
I liked the show. Hope it comes back for another try!
This was a great show. I hope the ratings go up if they chose to air the remaining shows.
lets ralley as many friends and family to watch it when and if they run the remaining shows.
I can’t believe that they would want to cancel a great show! We enjoyed watching it week and because of it we have both decided to become donors. The show was very interesting and a time to learn also. The actors went well together! We miss it! PLEASE bring it back!!
I loved this show and keep expecting to see it come back … good story lines … love the characters. Please, please, please bring it back!
I swear they always cancel the decent shows we want to see
I loved this show. I finally had something to look forward to on Sunday nights beside football. Then all of a sudden it was gone. What a shame.
Will they realize and fix their mistake???? Probably not, but I called this before it even happened that because it was clean, inspiring and good story lines … that they’d pull it, instead of keeping it on. I’m amazed at some of the trash they leave on tv and then pull the good ones. They don’t even give shows a chance to catch on. And they certainly didn’t advertise it that much. I loved all the cast members, they were great characters and I had hoped that it would remain as clean and inspiring as it was when it started. So many shows start out clean and then I guess they think that people will only watch if everyone is sleeping around. I loved this show because they showed strong characters in their work environment. They were just starting to show some of their personal lives and I only hoped that they would keep it real, but don’t get into everyone sleeping around. I wonder why these networks just don’t get it. So annoying.
It’s so sad this show was cancelled,My name is now on a donor list because of three rivers
I’m a big fan of Alex O’laughlin. The cast in Three Rivers was fantastic even my 13 yr. old found it interesting, and watched it.That says a lot for the children of today. Sunday became a good family, and educational t.v. night. We wish the network would give Three Rivers another chance!
How come everytime I really like a new show, it’s in danger of being cancelled, or is cancelled? This is a good show, and unique from the other medical shows on the air. Please give it a chance!
I loved this show, it was incredible. This was the one show I looked forward to watching each week. Please do not cancel this show. I know several people who liked the show and are also disappointed it was pulled. This show is very educational you do not see much on TV regarding the issues of Transplant Surgery and the lives it effects and touches. Please CBS do not cancel this show. If needed put it in another time slot, but do not cancel it.
I liked the show it was an educational program as well as a wonderful drama series, the shows time to aire might have been to blame to me but I enjoyed it every Sunday. The actors an actresses were wonderful.
I love that show. I used to DVR it to make sure I didn’t miss it. They need to bring it back.
I don”t understand why you cancelled Three Rivers I looked forward to watching this show while it was on and I have several friends and family member who watched as well. In a world where there is so little understanding of transplant this show would have changed many peoples minds and maybe as least left the idea in the back of some ones mind, Life is funny you never know who it is that will be in the postion to have to make a life saving decision in a time of sorrow for them with this show it gave us look at both sides of the story. I for one will donate as needed always would but never realized the impact on peoples lives that would recieve. think about it put it back on the air
