TV show description:
On this sitcom, a reformed party girl hopes that the third time’s the charm when she becomes the third wife of a (slightly) older man.

Kate (Malin Akerman) and Pete Harrison (Bradley Whitford) literally fell into each others’ arms at a karaoke bar. A year later, Kate finds herself with an “instant family” — complete with three stepchildren and two ex-wives.

Diane Buckley (Marcia Gay Harden) is Pete’s first ex-wife. She’s an intense, overachieving former Olympic athlete and the mother of teenagers Hillary and Warren. She’s quick to let Kate know her withering disapproval of her untapped maternal instincts.

Warren Harrison (Ryan Scott Lee) is Pete’s eldest son and he has an erotic fixation on his new step-mom. Hillary Harrison (Bailee Madison) isn’t a fan of Kate’s, despite her attempts to win Hillary’s trust.

Ex-wife number two is Jackie Fischer (Michaela Watkins), mother to adopted son Bert. She can pull Pete’s strings with her special blend of neurotic, new-ageyness. Bert (Albert Tsai) was adopted from China by Pete and Jackie. He plays soccer and the saxophone, and loves the Solar System and Legos.

Kate finds support in an unusual place — with her best friend, Meg Gomez (Natalie Morales). Meg is a real party girl who has even less experience with kids than Kate does.

Daunting as the situation may be, Kate is determined to make her new life work and become a part of the extended family no matter what.

Series Finale:
Episode #22 — Mother’s Day
Kate is overjoyed when Diane and Jackie offer to let her have the kids on her first Mother’s Day, however, when Kate discovers their hidden agenda — she is determined to get revenge. Meanwhile, Pete slowly buckles under the pressures at work.
First aired: May 13, 2014.
