Up All Night: Finally Cancelled

Up All Night canceledIt’s hard to believe that NBC hadn’t gotten around to actually cancelling Up All Night until now but they haven’t. We now know that there won’t be a third season.

Starring Christina Applegate, Maya Rudolph, and Will Arnett, Up All Night debuted in September of 2011 with a 3.7 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 10.95 million viewers. Those are very solid numbers but only came as a result of the sitcom’s premiere following the season finale of America’s Got Talent.

The numbers dropped significantly in week two and continued to drop over the course of the season. NBC likely renewed it based on the star power of its cast, certainly not because of its ratings.

In season two, the numbers continued to fall and NBC announced that they were going to shut down production and retool Up All Night as a multi-camera sitcom.

Applegate and series creator Emily Spivey apparently didn’t like the way things were going and walked away before any new episodes were shot. Ways to salvage the show were apparently examined but nothing ever came of it. The show’s been in limbo since February.

NBC has now pulled the plug and the strange tale of Up All Night has come to a close after two seasons and 35 episodes.

What do you think? Did you like Up All Night? Would you have liked to have seen it return for a third season?

I think the first season was funny but I did not think they would be able t pull off multiple seasons unless she kept having children. The second season was just so disappointing I quit watching. Jess

AN INCREDIBLY STUPID SHOW AND WASTE OF MONEY. These people in Hollywood are supposed to be intelligent. Lately…… they have been putting on mostly cheap CRAP. For example … SATURDAY NIGHT. LIVE HAS SUCKED FOR WELL OVER 20. YEARS.

This new thing DEFIANCE is terrible but they tell us we like it. I. Can name many others that truly SUCK… but why wast the time.

INTERNET TV is getting better all the time.
