TV show description:
Created and written by Michael Hirst (The Tudors), this TV series takes place in the brutal and mysterious world of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), a Viking warrior and farmer who yearns to explore (and raid) the distant shores across the ocean.

Ragnar’s ambition puts him at odds with local chieftain Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne), who insists on sending his raiders to the impoverished east, rather than the uncharted west. When Ragnar teams up with his boat builder friend, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard), to craft a new generation of intrepid ships capable of conquering the rough northern seas, the stage is set for conflict.

Aside from warfare and bloodshed, the series also tells the story of family and brotherhood; capturing the love and affection between Ragnar and his wife, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) — a respected warrior in her own right.

Other characters include Ragnar’s brother Rollo (Clive Standen), a fierce fighter who simmers with jealously; Earl Haraldson’s wife Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig), a dutiful beauty who may be less than loyal; and monk Athelstan (George Blagden), whose Christian morals clash with the Vikings’ pagan society.

I have watched all of this series and look forward to it’s continued production. Being a woman of course I was unhappy Ragnar and Legartha split but I do believe that it is logical and adds depth to the story line.

i love the show but i hate that Ragnar and Legartha split up please bring them back together again they belong together.and please don”t cancel show . but if the writers don’t bring them back together it will start get hopeless for me .they had true passion.

I did love the show last season. The largest reason being Ragnar and Legartha’s
relationship…For me splitting them up killed the show. I’ve watched a few episodes
hoping they’d get back together. However, the writer talks so proudly about historical facts and “situations changing”. I think this writer does not understand female viewers at all.
I think many viewers bonded emotionally with the R/L relationship. The development of that relationship. Sticking in the beautiful second wife doesn’t cut it.
Who gives a fab about her. We want to see Ragnar in conflict, in desire, in battle, in bed …with Legartha as the backdrop to these men going off to conquer and Viking.
Stuff pure and straight history. It’s boring! You can only go so far with straight history
Slight embellishment can be good! This writer needs to take a page from the Walking Dead series or Game of Thrones and change it up just a bit. He needs to get Legartha back to Ragnar. Not as some earl, but as the woman in his arms. Bring her back then with power, resistance, defiance, ups, downs, in and outs only to be ultimately conquered by Ragnar. Hot! Sizzle-sizzle! And if not….I and many, many, many
female history buffs/warriors will go off Viking to another channel!

Wait with baited breath for this show every week…then i forget to breathe, i think my heart forgets to beat & nothing else has my attention. The locations/set, the opportunity to get tuned into history, the strength of characters & storyline are enrapturing. True Hirst fare. Please keep the episodes coming.

The Vikings is a quality production. Its’ perspective of how the Vikings infused yet another ribbon that makes up the rainbow of the British gene pool is terrific. The actors are across the board, extremely good in their rolls. In addition the infusion of Dane Law into the early Brit culture had tremendous impact through and into our current legal system. Simply a Fantastic show. Well Done!!!l
