11.22.63: James Franco and Stephen King Discuss Hulu Mini-Series

11.22.63

Hulu’s new mini-series, 11.22.63, premieres next week. In anticipation of its debut, the streaming service has released new behind-the-scenes discussions with author Stephen King and star James Franco.

The historical series is based on King’s 2011 novel of the same name and produced by J.J. Abrams.

The story follows Jake Epping (Franco), a teacher who is tasked with the seemingly impossible: travel back in time to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Sarah Gadon, Chris Cooper, and Josh Duhamel also star in the series.

In the promo, King discusses his inspiration for the novel and reaction to the Hulu production:

The most interesting thing to consider, speaking as a novelist as somebody who makes up stories, isn’t necessarily whether or not Oswald did it. But if you could go back in time and change that, what else would change? That was kind of the motive that drove me. … To come and the set and see that they’ve actually brought it into the real world … it’s a little bit like the furnishings of your head actually brought to life. It’s pretty great, but it’s also a little bit spooky.”

11.22.63 premieres on February 15th on Hulu.
