2 Broke Girls: Cancelled; No Season Seven for CBS Comedy Series

2 Broke Girls TV show on CBS: (canceled or renewed?)

Max and Caroline are now out of time, as well as money. Today, CBS cancelled the 2 Broke Girls sitcom, after six seasons on the air.

The comedy follows the unlikely duo of streetwise Max Black (Kat Dennings) and formerly-wealthy Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs), who work in a greasyspoon diner that they now partially own. The cast also includes Garrett Morris, Jonathan Kite, Matthew Moy, and Jennifer Coolidge.

The show has been a solid performer for CBS since it began, and season six was no different. Although the ratings had dipped some, the sitcom was still bringing in decent numbers, with the most recent season earning an average of 1.31 in the 18-49 demo and 5.621 million viewers.

A renewal — perhaps for a shorter season — seemed likely for 2 Broke Girls, but CBS was locked in negotiations with the show’s producing studio, Warner Bros. TV, for some time. The studio owns the series outright and profits from it heavily, while CBS receives no backend. Although negotiations went down to the wire, Deadline has confirmed there will be no seventh season.

Recently, we asked viewers if they’d watch another season of 2 Broke Girls and while a majority of 65% said they would, 29% said “No, it’s time for the show to end.”

What do you think? Do you watch 2 Broke Girls? Would you have watched a seventh season on CBS?
