Kiefer Sutherland may not be the lead of the new 24 reboot, 24: Legacy, but he will be watching the new series. At a recent Q&A, Sutherland discussed FOX’s reboot series, his involvement, and his hopes for Jack Bauer.
Yesterday, we reported that Corey Hawkins had been cast as the lead for 24:Legacy.
During the discussion, Sutherland stressed that the new series will work without Bauer:
I have said from the beginning that the real star of 24 is the idea, and I mean that wholeheartedly.”
Sutherland last played Bauer in the 24 mini-series 24: Live Another Day, which aired in 2014. The actor also mentioned that he will “be one of the first people who can’t wait to see it” even though he isn’t involved with the new series. Sutherland added that he hopes Bauer will get some closer, whether in the form of a 24 movie or a cameo in the new series:
I have no idea if the [24] movie will ever happen, or Jack Bauer might end up finding his way into an episode one day and clarifying all of that, or ending all of that.”
