24: Legacy just premiered last night, February 5th. So what’s next? Recently, EP Manny Coto spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the FOX TV series.
The revival stars Corey Hawkins as Eric Carter, an Army Ranger who returns to the United States from the Middle East and finds himself trying to prevent a major terrorist attack. The cast also includes Miranda Otto, Jimmy Smits, Teddy Sears, Dan Bucatinsky, Anna Diop, Ashley Thomas, Charlie Hofheimer, Coral Pena, and Sheila Vand.
In the interview, Coto said they wanted to the new protagonist to be different from Jack Bauer:
He was fascinating to us because he’s not a CTU agent. He’s not someone from this world, unlike Jack Bauer, who was already a seasoned agent when we met him, and had even taken down a bunch of crooked agents. He had been around the block. This guy is new to the world. It’s a way to see the 24 world through his eyes.”
But what about Bauer? Will Kiefer Sutherland appear on the FOX reboot?
Who knows what the future may bring? Jack Bauer is in a Moscow prison right now. I for now don’t intend to keep him there. It could be Eric Carter’s job to get him out someday. You never know. It’s something we can easily envision and would be fun to do someday. I hope we get the chance.
