3%: Filming Begins on New Netflix Drama TV Show

Netflix is headed south of the border. The streaming service has announced that filming for their new Brazilian series, 3%, has begun.

The post-apocalyptic thriller comes from writer Pedro Aguilera.

Set in Brazil in the near future, 3% will follow a group of people who are “allowed to join a privileged society after undergoing an intense and competitive process.” The show stars João Miguel, Bianca Comparato, Zezé Motta and Nicolau Breyner. It is the first Netflix series to be filmed in Brazil.

No word on the release date yet.

The first Netflix original series filmed in Brazil brings together recognized actors such as João Miguel, Bianca Comparato, Zezé Motta and Nicolau Breyner with up-and-comers Mel Fronckowiak, Michel Gomes, Rodolfo Valente, Rafael Lozano and Viviane Porto

São Paulo, Brazil, March 11, 2016.- Netflix, the world’s leading Internet television network, announced the start of filming of the new Netflix original series 3%, in São Paulo which will premiere later this year exclusively on Netflix. Written by Pedro Aguilera (Copa de Elite, Os Homens São de Marte E É Pra Lá Que Eu Vou) and produced by Boutique Filmes, the first Netflix original series filmed in Brazil will bring a diverse group of veteran actors and rising talent to a global audience through Netflix. The first season will have eight episodes and will be filmed in Ultra HD 4K.

3% is being directed by Oscar® nominated Cesar Charlone (Cidade de Deus, Ensaio sobre a Cegueira, O Banheiro do Papa) with performances by Bianca Comparato (Avenida Brasil, Sete Vidas, Irmã Dulce), João Miguel (Estômago, Xingu, Felizes Para Sempre?), Zezé Motta (Chica da Silva, Chiquinha Gonzaga), alongside Mel Fronckowiak (Rebelde, O Hipnotizador, Viver a Vida), Rodolfo Valente (Chapô, Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, Malhação), Vaneza Oliveira, Michel Gomes (Cidade de Deus, Última Parada 174, Salve Geral), Rafael Lozano ( Sessão de Terapia) and Viviane Porto (Babilônia, Garotas do ABC).
