A&E is going undercover. According to Deadline, the network’s new docu-series, 60 Days In, will send innocent people into a corrupt Indiana jail.
The seven participants went undercover at Clark County Jail in Jeffersonville, IN.
The idea for the project came from Sheriff Jamey Noel, who was recently elected sheriff of Clark County. Deadline reports the jail has a “notorious” history of corruption, with 500 prisoners who range in criminal offense from drug dealing to capital murder.
For the program, Noel picked seven undercover volunteers to live in the jail for 60 days unbeknownst to the inmates or staff. He said the new undercover initiative has proven successful:
After recently taking office, it was no secret that the Clark County Jail had problems and we needed to take quick control. The only way to truly understand what was going on in the jail was to implement innocent participants into the system to provide first-hand unbiased intelligence. These brave volunteers helped us identify critical issues within our system that undercover officers would not have been able to find. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the success of this inaugural program.”
60 Days In premieres on March 10th with back-to-back episodes starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
