It’s a wrap, or perhaps a wrap dress. The Wrap has an exclusive report that Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce executive producer, Meryl Poster, is developing 7th Avenue, a 1970s period drama TV series. The Wrap says the show, “…takes place at the intersection of fashion, organized crime, labor unions and big business in New York City’s Garment District.”
According to The Wrap, 7th Avenue, “…follows designers, models, mobsters, union bosses and manufacturers — all working within a only a few blocks on the west side of Manhattan.”
Poster tells The Wrap: “It’s a world that hasn’t been explored at all. This is about so many people who became incredibly successful, who were the children of immigrants, who were living the American dream.”
While Poster’s indie Superb Entertainment company has a production deal with A+E Networks, she is also able to shop her projects to other outlets. From a Deadline article in October 2014:
The Weinstein Company president of television Meryl Poster is leaving to return to her independent company Superb Entertainment. The company is being backed by A+E Studios in the first pod-type deal for A+E Networks‘ in-house production arm. Under the agreement, Poster will develop and produce both unscripted and scripted projects for the A+E family of networks, including A&E, Lifetime, History, FYI and LMN. As an independent producer, she also will be able to sell to outside companies.
