Lemony Snicket’s alter-ego/representative, author Daniel Handler, tells The Daily Texan that Netflix plans to start filming its TV series adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events, in spring 2016, adding, “… but things go terribly wrong all the time so it’s hard to know.”

In September, Variety reported True Blood‘s Mark Hudis will serve as showrunner and executive producer; Barry Sonnenfeld will direct and executive produce. A Series of Unfortunate Events features the Baudelaire orphans’ perilous quest for their inheritance and answers to questions about the death of their parents. Continue on for another look at an unfortunately orphaned teaser.

On July 5, 2015, “An Unfortunate Teaser” was uploaded to YouTube.com, by user Eleanora Poe, and it is still the only video uploaded by Ms. Poe. Netflix disavowed the teaser in the YouTube comments and to the entertainment press. We are disinclined to take the Netflix denial at face value. CNET is on our side.

Fan-made or official, the trailer is most marvelous. If you missed it over the summer, watch it now.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events book series, or the 2004 Jim Carrey feature film? Do you plan to watch the Netflix TV series? What do you think about the teaser?
