ABC commits to Hip Hop Mayor TV show pilot from Jeremy Bronson and Daveed Diggs (pictured; photo: Lev Radin / Shutterstock.com.).
ABC has made a cast-contingent pilot production commitment to an untitled project featuring a rapper-turned-mayor. The single-camera comedy comes from writer Jeremy Bronson, Hamilton co-star Daveed Diggs, and Jamie Tarses, Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark’s Bluegrass FanFare production company.
Deadline reports, “Written and executive produced by Bronson, the untitled City Mayor Project centers on a struggling hip-hop artist who runs for mayor to promote his mixtape – and wins.” Diggs is not attached to act in the pilot, but is executive producing.
Diggs has recurred in The Get Down on Netflix, as well as ABC’s Black-ish.
