With DWTS: All Stars and Castle, ABC led the pack for the 7th straight Monday this season in Total Viewers, topping all 6 half-hours and outdrawing runner-up NBC by 1.6 million viewers (The Voice/Revolution), CBS by 4.7 million viewers (HIMYM/Partners/2 Broke Girls/Mike & Molly/Hawaii Five-0) and Fox by 6.9 million viewers (Bones/The Mob Doctor). In addition among Adults 18-49, ABC beat out Fox on the night by 33%.
Gaining audience from its first hour to its second hour, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars won its time period and finished as Monday’s most-watched TV series for the 5th week running, besting NBC’s The Voice in head-to-head competition by 1.2 million viewers. Among Adults 18-49, ABC’s Dancing beat out Fox’s dramas in the 2-hour time period by 40%.
Monday’s most-watched scripted TV program in its 6th telecast in a row, ABC’s Castle won the 10 o’clock hour by wide margins, topping NBC’s Revolution of 2.4 million viewers and CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 by a season-best 2.8 million viewers. In addition, the ABC drama ranked as the #2 series in the hour with Adults 25-54 and across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).

With “DWTS: All Stars” and “Castle,” ABC led the pack for the 7th straight Monday this season in Total Viewers (12.3 million), topping all 6 half-hours and outdrawing runner-up NBC by 1.6 million viewers (10.7 million – “The Voice”/”Revolution”), CBS by 4.7 million viewers (7.6 million – “HIMYM”/”Partners”/”2 Broke Girls”/”Mike & Molly”/”Hawaii Five-0”) and Fox by 6.9 million viewers (5.4 million – “Bones”/”The Mob Doctor”). In addition among Adults 18-49, ABC beat out Fox on the night by 33% (2.0/5 vs. 1.5/4).

Among Adults 18-49, ABC’s “Dancing” beat out Fox’s dramas in the 2-hour time period by 40% (2.1/5 vs. 1.5/4).

Monday’s most-watched scripted TV program in its 6th telecast in a row, ABC’s “Castle” (10.1 million) won the 10 o’clock hour by wide margins, topping NBC’s “Revolution” of 2.4 million viewers (7.7 million) and CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0” by a season-best 2.8 million viewers (7.3 million). In addition, the ABC drama ranked as the No. 2 series in the hour with Adults 25-54 (2.7/6) and across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 46% currently, from 43% at the same point in 2011. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
