TV show description:
The brainchild of Pulitzer Prize winning satirist and Doonesbury comic strip creator Garry Trudeau, this Capitol Hill comedy centers on four Republican senators who share a house in the nation’s capital. The series is inspired by several actual Democratic legislators who share a row house in Washington D.C.
Mirroring real world events, with numerous cameos by real-life politicians and journalists, the show is a parody of today’s political leaders.
After Senator Vernon Smits (Bill Murray) is reluctantly sent to prison, the housemates are forced to recruit a new member to help pay the bills.
Self-appointed leader and North Carolina Senator, Gil John Biggs (John Goodman) loves his job though he gets tired of campaigning and is known to fall asleep in the shower. His demanding wife is Maddie (Julie White) and he’s assisted in the legislature by Tammy Stackhouse (Alicia Sable).
Gil is intent on helping his friend Louis Laffer (Matt Malloy) who also owns the house where they live. Louis is a semi devout Mormon who must fight to retain his Nevada seat. A member of the Tea Party is attempting to demean his character by questioning his masculinity.
With three terms already under his belt, Pennsylvania senator Robert Bettencourt’s (Clark Johnson) calm demeanor helps balance the household.
Cuban/American Florida senator Andy Guzman (Mark Consuelos) is the new addition to the household and is as ambitious as he is good looking. Backed by billionaire girlfriend Adriana de Portago (Yara Martinez), Andy has his eyes firmly set on a presidential nomination.
Episode #21 — The Nuptials
As the election returns come in, Gil John meets with a presidential campaign advisor, while Robert wonders if he still has a job. Katherine and Julie discover their wedding has been turned into a major political event — after they arrive.
First aired: October 24, 2014.
