The Amazing Race: Season 30; Were the Creators Worried About Being Cancelled?

Earlier this month, we reported CBS has renewed The Amazing Race for the 2017-2018 season. Recently, executive producers Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri spoke with The Wrap about the future of the TV series.

Hosted by Phil Keoghan, the long-running reality competition series follows teams of two as they travel around the world solving clues for a prize of $1,000,000. The current season (29) airs its finale on June 1st.

In the interview, van Munster said he wasn’t afraid season 29 would be the end for The Amazing Race:

Not at all. We never looked at it that way. Never. I doubt even if the show ended that it wouldn’t be picked up 5 years from now. It is truly an evergreen. It would be a difficult show to sell now because so much is manipulated (now) but ours is not manipulated, it’s not touched, it’s the real thing.”

As for the next season, van Munster says they have a “rough idea” but will confer with CBS soon:

We’re not going to tell you that. (Both laughing). This is all going to be discussed within the next week with the network. We have a rough idea. But we just need to discuss with the network how we can do it.”

What do you think? Are you a fan of The Amazing Race? Are you glad it’s coming back for another season?
