Showtime Is Adapting American Gigolo as a TV Show

Variety confirms Showtime is adapting American Gigolo as a TV series. The 1980 Richard Gere film of the same name serves as the basis for the pilot. The series will be set in present day Los Angeles.

Paramount TV and Jerry Bruckheimer Television are producing the project. According to the report, playwright Neil LaBute is writing. Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman are executive producing. Paul Schrader, writer and director of the movie, will serve as an executive consultant.

Per Variety, Paramount TV and Bruckheimer have been working on American Gigolo, for nearly two years. Showtime just landed the romantic crime drama.
