In sweet news for Psych fans, Corbin Bernsen has been cast in the American Gods TV show coming to Starz. Bernsen will play Vulcan, an old alliance of Ian McShane’s Mr. Wednesday. Deadline says Vulcan has, “…created a comfortable life for himself by harnessing his powers for the modern world, which makes him resistant to Wednesday’s plans.” The role could potentially be recurring.

The American Gods TV series cast also includes: Yetide Badaki as Bilquis; Bruce Langley as Technical Boy; Emily Browning as Laura Moon; and Ricky Wittle as Shadow Moon. Pablo Schreiber replaced Sean Harris as Mad Sweeney, back in May. Crispin Glover, Jonathan Tucker, Gillian Anderson, Chloris Leachman, Orlando Jones, Kristen Chenoweth, Dane Cook, Peter Stormare, Chris Obi, and Mousa Kraish are also in the new drama.

Starz says:

The plot posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon, is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr. Wednesday, a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new deities.

American Gods is produced by FremantleMedia North America. Bryan Fuller and Michael Green are writers and showrunners. David Slade is directing the pilot and additional episodes.

FMNA’s Craig Cegielski and Stefanie Berk are executive producing the series along with Fuller, Green, Slade and Neil Gaiman. He wrote the book on which the series is based. In May, Jo Willems replaced Brendan Glavin as Director of Photography.
