American Gods: Season Four? Neil Gaiman Talks Plans for the Starz Show’s Future

American Gods TV show on Starz: (canceled or renewed?)

American Gods just wrapped its second season, so what’s next? Recently, creator Neil Gaiman spoke with Deadline about the future of the Starz TV show.

Based on Gaiman’s novel of the same name, the supernatural drama centers on Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle), Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane), and a pantheon of gods — old and new — competing, and ready to do battle, for the hearts and minds of believers.

American Gods just aired its season two finale and has already been renewed for a second season, but will there be a fourth? Neil Gaiman revealed he and the creative team behind the Starz series are planning for a fourth season:

We’re just breaking it down. Some of that is going over what we already planned for Season 3 and just figuring out how we’re doing Season 4, how many episodes it is, and what we’re delivering in the story by the end of Season 4.”

And what can fans expect from season three? Gaiman says there will be some differences from the book:

Like everything we’ve done with American Gods so far, if you know the book, there will be lovely, satisfying things that will be happening that will fit into the things that you read in the book. Yet, also if you know the book, there are things that we’re going to do that will surprise you, change things around, or change the way that something happened because this is television, and it’s not a book.”

What do you think? Are you a fan of American Gods? Will you watch season three?
