American Idol ended its run earlier this year, but the series is at the center of new controversy because of comments made by Mariah Carey while she was promoting her new reality series, Mariah’s World, at the TCA’s. She appeared on season 12 as a judge, alongside Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson. Their feud behind the scenes made big news during the season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carey called her time on American Idol “an abusive experience” at the TCA’s. Nigel Lythgoe responded to her comments. He said the following to Billboard:
“I’m looking forward to Mariah’s new series and wondering if Nicki Minaj may guest.”
