American Idol: Season 12 Ratings (Thursdays)

American Idol ratingsAmerican Idol is surely still a big success for FOX but the ratings have fallen quite a bit in the past couple years. Will they keep falling? How many seasons away is the show from being cancelled? It’ll be interesting to find out.

Original judge Randy Jackson is joined at the table by Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj. As always, Ryan Seacrest is the series’ host.

The 12th season of American Idol typically airs twice a week on FOX; on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Below are the TV show’s latest Thursday ratings for the 2012-13 season, the best way to tell if American Idol is going to be cancelled or renewed for season 13.

Reference point: The second weekly editions of the 2011-12 season (typically Thursdays) averaged a 4.8 rating with 16.59 million viewers. You can see the week-by-week breakdown.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
