America’s Funniest Home Videos will air a very special episode later tonight. The series will mark its 600th episode with tonight’s airing.

The ABC series has been through three hosts since it began, but it is the current host, Alfonso Ribeiro, who will celebrate the milestone with the popular Sunday night series.

Vin Di Bona, one of the series’ executive producers, said the following about the work that goes into America’s Funniest Home Videos each week, per Variety:

“It’s all about curation. We create this show every week to give a family audience the sense of security in watching the show. We know how hard it is for parents to control the media and television influences on young children. There are a multitude of categories of clips you run across when you’re on YouTube or Facebook, and a lot of them are not funny. That’s where the big appreciation for our show comes from.”

The series has changed since its first season in 1989. Social media has made a huge impact on the series, but it has only helped the series. Di Bona revealed that:

“It’s all new and invigorating. It’s opened up so many new avenues for us. We try to adapt to all of it as quickly as possible, as long as it fits with our first rule: keep it funny.”
