America’s Next Top Model was cancelled by The CW last month, and the announcement made a lot of fans upset. The reaction to the announcement that the 22nd cycle would be the last one for the series has spawned a potential save.
Ken Mok is looking at other avenues for a 23rd season. He is looking at cable networks and streaming options. He is in the process of formulating a pitch, and he is hoping to find a new home for the series,
Why the decision to save the series? Deadline reported:
“I hear the idea for a new Top Model installment came out of incoming interest the series’ producers fielded following the Oct. 14 series finale announcement by the CW. Top Model is a rare reality series with strong repeatability. It has done well in its off-network runs on cable networks VH1, Bravo and Oxygen. Additionally, because of its serialized nature, it also has fared well on the top streaming platforms, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon.”
Mok has the blessing of Tyra Banks, but she may not be the on-screen talent for the series if it continues on. She will stay on as an executive producer.
