Arrested Development: Mitch Hurwitz Has Recut Season Four with More Episodes

Arrested Development TV show on Netflix

While season five of Arrested Development is still up in the air, The Hollywood Reporter says creator Mitch Hurwitz has recut season four of the Netflix series.

Earlier, we reported that Hurwitz has stories planned for a fifth season of the comedy, but scheduling the cast has been the biggest obstacle so far. Season four was released in 2013.

At the TCA summer press tour, Hurwitz mentioned he’s re-edited the entire fourth season, expanding the 15-episode season into 22, 22-minute episodes. The new version features additional narration by Ron Howard, previously unused scenes, and Hurwitz said it allowed new storylines to emerge.

At the moment, it’s unclear whether the new cut will be released. But Hurwitz did mention season five might happen in 2o17:

We’re very close. It’s a thing I really am desperate to do. We’ve got a lot of the stories broken. We’re kinda ready to go. I’m so appreciative of the fans wanting more, I hate to tease them with information that there is going to be more until we know for sure, but it’s what we’re trying to accomplish and if does happen, it looks like shooting would be at the start of 2017. That’s what I’m hoping.”

What do you think? Are you a fan of Arrested Development? Would you like to see the re-cut fourth season?
