Arrow: Season Five Finale to Feature Intended Series Finale Scene

Arrow TV show on The CW: season 5 (canceled or renewed?).

Arrow is currently airing its fifth season on The CW, and the man behind the series has now revealed something big about the season five finale episode.

The episode will end like the series began – with Oliver, who is played by Stephen Amell, staring at the boat that rescued him. However, that scene was planned to end the series originally.

Marc Guggenheim revealed in 2012 that he planned to end the series how it began, but that would now make season five the end of the series.

He does not want the series to end yet, but he also doesn’t want to continue on with Oliver’s flashbacks to his time away from Starling City.

Guggenheim revealed the following about his plan for the series to TV Line:

“It was really just a hope at that point [in 2012] that the show would run five years, and we always thought that we would intercut the final moment of the series with the first moment of the series, that it would form one big Moebius strip. There’s still a part of me that wishes we could do that, but I wouldn’t want to artificially extend the flashbacks [beyond five seasons], and I also wouldn’t want to artificially cut the show short. It would’ve been a beautifully elegant thing, and Five Years Ago Me would’ve loved it. But things change, and I do think it’ll make the Season 5 finale pretty awesome.”

This could lead to a very different season six for Arrow. CW has not yet officially picked up the series for a sixth season, but this plan by the man in charge shows his confidence that CW will keep Oliver Queen around for another season.
