Astro Boy is coming to life. Variety reports a live action film of the classic android character is in the works.
Astro Boy originated as a Japanese manga in the 1950s.
Created by Osamu Tezuka, Astro Boy follows the adventures of an android boy who fights evil in the future. Since its creation, the manga has been adapted into several TV series, films, and video games.
A popular anime version of Astro Boy aired in the 1960s. And recently, it was announced that a new Astro Boy reboot series was in the works.
The live-action film is being produced by Animal Logic, whose previous credits include visual effects work on The Lego Movie and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. New Line is reportedly in talks to help develop the project.
