Avatar: The Last Airbender: Nickelodeon Planning Sequel TV Show, Legend of Korra

Though The Last Airbender movie hasn’t been as big a hit as the studio had hoped, the animated TV show on which it was based, Avatar: The Last Airbender, continues to be very popular. It’s not surprising then that a sequel animated series is in the works.

Nickelodeon has announced that the new TV show is expected to debut in 2011. The working title is The Legend of Korra.

Korra will build on the mythology of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender show and comes from creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko. The story will focus on a teenage girl avatar named Korra who is headstrong and hotheaded. It’s believed that the show will take place 100 years after the original series.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Avatar series? Are you looking forward to the sequel show?
