In addition, the cable channel has announced that Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler will replace series creator Lauren Iungerich as showrunner. Iungerich left the show at the end of season three. The pair previously worked on 90210 and Reba on The CW.
The renewal was expected but MTV programming chief Susanne Daniels had maintained that they wouldn’t be making an announcmeent until a new showrunner could be found.
There’s no word yet on how many eisodes have been ordered for season four. Awkward is set to return with 10 new episodes, the second half of season three, sometime in October.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Awkward has been renewed for a fourth season or, do you think the show should have been cancelled instead?
