Bad Judge: Cancel or Keep the NBC Sitcom?

Bad Judge TV show on NBC: cancel or renew?Following Kate Walsh’s long run on ABC, the peacock network likely has great expectations for her Bad Judge sitcom. Is it a ratings hit? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

Bad Judge follows Rebecca Wright (Walsh), an unorthodox judge of the Los Angeles County Circuit Court. She’s tough-as-nails and one of Los Angeles’ most respected criminal court judges but she also has a truly wild lifestyle in her off hours. The rest of the cast includes Tone Bell, Ryan Hansen, John Ducey, and Miguel Sandoval.

The show debuted on October 2nd with a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.84 million viewers. This certainly wasn’t a great start. The second installment drew a 1.3 in the demo with 5.24 million.

While Bad Judge’s ratings aren’t very good, it’s positive that the numbers didn’t go down that much in week two. Most shows lose 15-20% in their second week.

It’s unlikely that NBC execs consider this show a success. However, it is airing opposite very tough competition and currently has a better ratings average than any of the peacock network’s comedies from last season.

If Bad Judge’s ratings remain at this level (or rise) and NBC’s other new comedies aren’t hits, the show’s got a good chance of surviving. If not, it will probably be cancelled. At this point, it’s hard to say what the future will hold.

But, what do you think? Do you like the Bad Judge TV show? Cancel or keep it?
