Jacobee wants more Into the Badlands. Recently, Edi Gathegi, who plays Jacobee on the AMC martial arts drama, spoke with Zap2It about his hopes for a possible season two.
Into the Badlands just finished its six-episode first season this week.
Speaking to Zap2It, Gathegi not only hopes to be back for a second season, but he also likened Into the Badlands to another ongoing epic drama:
Game of Thrones is one of my all-time favorite shows and that world is so epic — I think Into the Badlands could have a pretty epic world in its own right and Jacobee is a part of it, so if they get a Season 2, I’d love to still be a character in that world.”
As of yet, there has been no official second season renewal for Into the Badlands. Though, both the cast and creators have expressed plans for one if/when they get the greenlight.
And if they do, Gathegi says he hopes he’ll also be a part of the show’s martial arts boot camp before filming begins:
Unfortunately for me, I missed the martial arts boot camp they had in the summer before they started shooting. I hope I get the chance to do that boot camp for next season. It’s the best martial arts that TV’s ever had. It’s fantastic. You have Huan-chiu Ku, who did fights for ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ and the ‘Kill Bill’ movies. He’s got this encyclopedia of martial arts moves in his head and he’ll come up with routines on the spot, it’s incredible.”
