Russell Tovey wants back on Banished. The actor recently told Radio Times he’d “love” to revisit the cancelled BBC Two series.
Created by Jimmy McGovern, the historical drama chronicled the founding of the first British penal colony in Australia. Alongside Tovey, the series starred Orla Brady, Ewen Bremner, Ryan Corr, and David Wenham.
Discussing a possible revival, Tovey said he’d absolutely return:
Yes, I’d love it. That was an incredible job. It was an expensive show, you take everyone out to Australia for like 5 months, and I feel like it would’ve been brilliant to do it again. I’m quite sad.”
Though, the actor later mentioned that the window of opportunity for a revival may have passed:
“Hopefully another channel will do it, but I don’t know if the time, the window for that opportunity has passed. Ripper Street happened quite soon after, you know, so…maybe one day.”
