Nothing but net! WE tv has just announced they are developing a new reality series, Basketball Moms.
The unscripted series will follow a group of “five Houston-area mothers whose sons play on rival youth basketball teams and dream of making it to the NBA.”
The show joins the ranks of other network docu-series like VH1’s Basketball Wives which focus on the families that surround athletes.
No word yet on a premiere date for the series.
Here’s the official announcement:
NEW YORK, NY – November 17, 2015 – WE tv announced today that it is developing a new one-hour unscripted series called “Basketball Moms” (working title) focused on five Houston-area mothers whose sons play on rival youth basketball teams and dream of making it to the NBA. The mothers are all distinct personalities who bond and clash and find true friendship against the backdrop of being willing to do anything to help their sons succeed.
“Any show focused on parents, kids and a shared activity has the right ingredients for high drama. Add in the potential of an NBA career and the transformational impact of that on both player and family and you take things to a whole other level,” said Marc Juris, WE tv president. “We’re excited about this show because we know we’ve found the right parents and players to fully represent this journey in a way that will totally entertain and captivate WE tv viewers.”
“Basketball Moms” includes a range of unforgettable real life characters, from the single mom to the pot stirrer, the coach’s wife to the party girl. Each has a unique story that is all their own, with two things in common – their mutual friendship and shared dreams for their sons. Basketball isn’t just a hobby for these families, it’s a way of life that comes at a very high price.”
