Battlefield: Video Game Being Adapted as TV Show

Battlefield

Battlefield gamers might soon see the popular franchise on television. Paramount is developing a television series based on the franchise, according to Deadline.

Paramount released a press statement revealing their plans earlier this week. Amy Powell, President of Paramount TV, said the following about the project:

“Paramount TV actively seeks smart content from all sectors that will resonate with audiences and translate to compelling programming. EA’s Battlefield has an incredibly dynamic narrative, coupled with a loyal fan base, which will allow us to bring this exciting and unique property to the small screen. We look forward to working with EA and Anonymous Content and thank Michael Sugar for his tenacity in bringing us this exciting project.”

Michael Sugar, from Anonymous Content, also spoke about the project. He said:

“Battlefield has a tremendous built-in, engaged fan base, making it a highly coveted piece of IP primed for long-form adaptation. Together with EA and Paramount TV, we’ll develop the Battlefield TV series with the same commitment to robust storytelling that has made the game such a runaway success for nearly fifteen years.”

The Battlefield franchise first arrived in 2002. The most recent additions to the franchise are Battlefield 4 and Battlefield: Hardline. In Battlefield: Hardline, the single player campaign features Kelly Hu and Nicholas Gonzalez. EA plans to release the next installment in the franchise, Battlefield 1, this October. That game will take players back to the World War I era for their battles.

As a member of the loyal fan base of players that play games from the Battlefield franchise, this writer is curious what type of series comes from this partnership.
