In November, we reported that Dwayne Johnson had been cast in the movie reboot of the popular Baywatch TV series. Now, Paramount has announced the film’s release date and casting news for Johnson’s on-screen love interest.
Baywatch was cancelled by NBC after its first season, but the series then continued for a successful run of 11 seasons in syndication.
Johnson has been cast as the new lead alongside newcomer Ilfenesh Hadera as his love interest, according to Variety. Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, and Kelly Rohrbach will also star.
The film is set to be released on May 19th, 2017.
Johnson is also developing a cop drama called Boost Unit for FOX.
