Beyond just finished its first season on Monday, but what about season two? Recently, star Burkely Duffield spoke with TVLine about the future of the Freeform series.
The drama revolves around a young man named Holden Matthews (Duffield) who wakes up from a 12-year coma and finds himself at the center of a dangerous conspiracy. The cast also includes Michael McGrady, Romy Rosemont, Jonathan Whitesell, Dilan Gwyn, and Jeff Pierre. Freeform renewed the series for a second season in January.
In the interview, Duffield says season two will continue to explore Holden’s relationships with Willa and Charlie:
Holden is still getting his life together, and these two characters represent different paths that Holden can take. Willa represents the life he’s remembering, while Charlie represents this new, spontaneous way of taking things and running with them. These two relationships bring completely different philosophies, which is why he’s kind of waffling between them, because he himself doesn’t really know who he identifies as.”
Season two will also see Holden continue to be more independent:
You saw Holden struggling with so many aspects of his life in this first season. To see him gaining perspective on his abilities is really cool to see. He’s making decisions for himself now. It’s fun to see the powerful side of him.”
