Big Brother: Season 19 Ratings (Vetoes)

Big Brother TV show on CBS: canceled or renewed for season 20?Last August, CBS announced it had renewed Big Brother through season 20 (in addition to producing a version of the show for CBS All Access subscribers — Big Brother: Over the Top). There’s no danger of this summer tradition being cancelled soon but, could Big Brother tank in the ratings this time around? All we can say is, stay tuned.

A competitive reality TV series, hosted by Julie Chen, Big Brother typically airs on CBS three nights a week — Wednesdays (veto), Thursdays (eviction), and Sundays. In the 19th season, the new contestants are: Christmas Abbott, Matthew Clines, Dominique Cooper, Elena Davies, Jason Dent, Jessica Graf, Cameron Heard, Mark Jansen, Megan Lowder, Josh Martinez, Cody Nickson, Alex Ow, Jillian Parker, Kevin Schlehuber, Ramses Soto, and Raven Walton.

Big Brother follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with 87 HD cameras and more than 100 microphones, recording their every move 24 hours a day. Each week someone is voted out of the house. The last remaining Houseguest wins the grand prize of $500,000. Season 19 features a new twist, the “Den of Temptation,” in which Houseguests will receive offers money, power, or safety, but they all come with consequences.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

9/21 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.

For comparisons: The veto editions of the 18th season of Big Brother averaged a 1.86 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.067 million viewers.

Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
