Could Big Little Lies return for a second season? Recently, star Reese Witherspoon told E! News there’s a possibility for another season of the HBO TV show, TVInsider reports.
Based on the novel by Liane Moriarty, the drama follows a group of wealthy mothers who are hiding dark secrets beneath their seemingly perfect lives. The cast includes Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz, Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper, and Jeffrey Nordling.
Big Little Lies ended its first season in April. And while the show was initially billed as a limited series, its’ popularity has sprouted rumors of a second season. Speaking to E! News, Witherspoon revealed she and co-star Nicole Kidman spoke to author Liane Moriarty about a possible sequel:
Nicole and I just spoke about it three days ago. We’re talking to Liane Moriarty, who wrote the book, about how these characters go on, what would happen? We definitely left it open-ended, so there’s a possibility there.”
Moriarty recently told The Sydney Morning Herald she’s up for a second season of the HBO series:
I have started to think about ways this could continue. The producers have asked me to see if I can come up with some ideas. I wouldn’t write a new book but perhaps a new story and then we’ll see what happens.”
