The CW has a new addition to their DC Comics roster. Deadline reports the network has ordered the TV series Black Lightning for the 2017-2018 season.
Based on the DC Comics character, the drama centers on Jefferson Pierce, a former superhero who returns to crime fighting because of his daughter, Jennifer. The cast includes Cress Williams, Nefessa Williams, China Anne McClain, and Christine Adams.
Salim Akil, Mara Brock Akil, and Greg Berlanti are executive producing Black Lightning, which will be the fifth DC series for The CW. The network’s other DC programs include Arrow, The Flash, Suepergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow.
