canceled TV shows - TV Series Finale

The Blacklist: Redemption: NBC Spinoff Starts February 2017

by Trevor Kimball, December 8, 2016

The Blacklist: Redemption TV show on NBC (canceled or renewed?)The ratings for The Blacklist have dropped quite a bit over that last couple years but that’s not stopping NBC from moving forward with The Blacklist: Redemption.

The network announced today that their spin-off series will launch on Thursday, February 23rd, at 10pm. It will take the place of The Blacklist on the schedule and will run for eight weeks. After that, The Blacklist will return to its regular timeslot and then finish out its fourth season.

Here’s NBC’s description of The Blacklist: Redemption:

In this thrilling new spinoff, the world’s most elusive criminals from Red’s infamous list come together to form an elite mercenary team as they try to regain their self-worth after a lifetime of inflicting damage on the world. Seeking redemption for their past transgressions, this new group solves problems governments don’t dare touch. Blacklist undercover operative Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) joins the team’s brilliant and cunning chief, Susan “Scottie” Hargrave (Famke Janssen), as well as lethal assassin and Tom nemesis Matias Solomon (Edi Gathegi), as they aim to be a force for good and right dangerous wrongs. Along with highly skilled members Nez Rowan (Tawny Cypress) and hacker Dumont (Adrian Martinez), they will undertake seemingly impossible missions – all in the hopes of repairing their damaged souls.

Jon Bokenkamp, John Eisendrath and David Amann serve as writers and executive producers. John Fox and John Davis also executive produce. Co-executive producer John Terlesky directs. “The Blacklist: Redemption” was created by Bokenkamp, Eisendrath, Lukas Reiter and J.R. Orci. The series is produced by John Eisendrath Productions, Flatwater Scribe, Davis Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television and Universal Television.

What do you think? Are you a fan of The Blacklist on NBC? Do you plan to watch the Redemption spin-off?

LOVE LOVE LOVE The Blacklist. NBC needs more series like this one. Nothing like it. Keeps me on the edge of my chair. The whole cast is fabulous.

Will not watch redemption. I guess I have to wait eight weeks for Blacklist to return. You have no idea how many people really watch it. TV has so little well written shows. Please stop playing with one of the few good ones. Ratings ugh

The network should stop stopping and starting this series. It is a good series and has gotten the short end of the stick with the continuous breaks in airing. Perhaps they could time this series to NOT be interrupted with awards shows and what ever comes along including the Olympics, football, baseball, hockey, and yada yada yada. Those who watch any series with enthusiasm should not be short changed on their viewing experience with schedulers who don’t care what they are doing to the viewership. With competition Black List could very well sign on to Amazon or Netflix & probably… Read more »

Blacklist is good show in a bad time slot. Should be on Wed at 8. Need to resolve night of the fire and Liz questions if not renewing.. Redemption will not have same family chemistry as Blacklist. Give is six months.

On another note, actor playing Samar could have her own show. Lot of potential there.

We love The Blacklist and really hope it will be renewed for a fifth season.

Not too happy about an 8-week interruption for the spin-off series, but we’ll watch and see what we think…
