In early 2018, truTV will premiere Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters, a new anthology series that features twisted morality tales from the darkly witty and comedic mind of the creator and four-time Sundance Award-winning writer and director.
Today, the network is releasing a first look at one episode in the anthology entitled “Bubba the Bear,” in which actor Noble Bartell (guest star Seth Green) has it made as the voice behind the popular children’s cartoon character Bubba the Bear, but his world takes a terrifying but hilarious turn when Bubba comes to life, haunting him, to express his disgust at his character’s portrayal. As Noble grapples with the menacing threats of an abrasive animated bear, he struggles to maintain a sense of normalcy as his career and family life crumbles around him. Roger Rabbit meets Cape Fear in this darkly comic fable about fame.
Each episode of Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters will tell a different story in a different genre – including 1970s-era science fiction, psychological thriller, romantic comedy, and reality – and will satirize our social norms and exploit the awkwardness of its flawed characters. The series is produced by Left/Right with Goldthwait, Banks Tarver, Ken Druckerman and Olivia Wingate serving as executive producers.
