Because of production costs, AMC has supposedly asked for a shorter season — six or eight episodes versus the traditional baker’s dozen. The creative forces behind the series have balked at that idea and Sony was rumored to have sent out feelers out to other cable outlets about possibly taking over the show.
TheWarp reports that Sony did indeed solicit interest and FX was one of the cable stations approached. The article also notes that a move for Breaking Bad is considered less and less likely as negotiations have been improving between Sony and AMC.
Interestingly, FX seriously considered picking up the TV series before AMC took it on back in 2008. Supposedly FX execs passed because they already had thee shows on the air that focused on anti-heroes (Nip/Tuck, The Shield, and Rescue Me).
What do you think? Do you consider Walt an anti-hero? If so, when did he become one?
