Broadchurch: EP Promises There Won’t Be a Fourth Season

The case is closed for Broadchurch. Recently, executive producer Chris Chibnall recently confirmed season three will be the last for the ITV series, Radio Times reports.

The UK drama, which airs on BBC America in the U.S., stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman as two detectives investigating the murder of a young boy in a small seaside town.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4, Chibnall said season three is it for Broadchurch. There will be no more seasons:

That is it and there will be no more after this one, absolutely. … It’s been an extraordinary journey with the show it has taken us all by surprise. … It’s hard to say goodbye. I’ve asked myself, ‘Why am I walking away from the two best actors in the country?’”

The third and final season of Broadchurch just finished airing on ITV. BBC America has not yet announced a U.S. premiere date for the season, but it is expected to air sometime later this year.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Broadchurch? Are you sad it’s coming to an end?
