Pivot has acquired the US rights for the south London-set Capital TV series. Watch a trailer, below. Shaw Media has acquired the Canadian rights, and BBC Worldwide has acquired the rights for Australia and New Zealand. The three part series is an adaptation of John Lanchester’s novel of the same name. Capital originally premiered on BBC One in November, 2015.
The cast of Capital includes: Toby Jones, Rachael Stirling, Radoslaw Kaim, Wunmi Mosaku, Adeel Akhtar, and Gemma Jones. Written by Peter Bowker, Capital is executive produced by Derek Wax and Peter Bowker for Kudos. Lucy Richer executive prodcudes for the BBC, with Matt Strevens producing.

FMI GLOBAL SALES FOR THE DISTINCTLY MODERN DRAMA CAPITAL

FremantleMedia International (FMI) is celebrating three deals for the sharply observant drama Capital, with sales to Participant Media’s television network Pivot (US), Shaw (Canada) and BBC Worldwide (Australia and New Zealand). The three part series adaptation of the bestselling novel by John Lanchester revolves around the interconnected lives of a diverse group of Londoners who all reside on the same suburban street Pepys Road – but all is not as it seems. Capital is produced by one of the world’s leading scripted producers Kudos for BBC One in the UK.
Targeted by a mysterious hate campaign, each of the residents of Pepys Road receives an anonymous postcard through their front doors bearing the menacing message: “We Want What You Have”. But who is behind the campaign and what do they want? The diverse dwellers include investment banker Roger (Toby Jones), who is eagerly anticipating his £1m bonus, his spendthrift wife Arabella (Rachael Stirling), Polish builder Bogdan (Radoslaw Kaim) who works on the houses in the street, Quentina the Zimbabwean refugee with a PhD who works as a traffic warden (Wunmi Mosaku), local newsagent Ahmed (Adeel Akhtar) and the elderly Petunia (Gemma Jones), who has lived her entire life on Pepys Road, and is now contemplating death in the house in which she was born.

Capital was written by the BAFTA award-winning screenwriter Peter Bowker and executive producers include Derek Wax (The Hour, From There To Here) and Peter Bowker (Marvellous, From There To Here) for Kudos and Lucy Richer (Marvellous, The Casual Vacancy) for the BBC. It is produced by Matt Strevens (Cucumber, An Adventure In Space And Time).
